Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automotive Test Engineer to join our dynamic team at Hitachi Digital Services Vietnam Co. Ltd. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans for automotive software and hardware components, ensuring product quality and performance to meet industry standards and customer expectations.
Job Responsibilities**
Define and own the test strategy, test plan and test estimation for automotive/ECU projects, aligned with project schedule, safety level and customer quality gates
Analyze system, software and diagnostic requirements/specifications, clarify gaps with customers and maintain bi-directional traceability between requirements, test cases and defects
Design, review and execute test cases across test levels (unit / integration / system / vehicle-level) including functional, diagnostic (UDS), communication, robustness and fault-injection testing
Set up, configure and maintain HIL / SIL / bench test environments, including rest bus simulation, CAN/LIN/Ethernet configuration, measurement and flashing tools
Design, develop and maintain the test automation framework and scripts (Python / CAPL / vTESTstudio) and integrate automated regression suites into the CI/CD pipeline
Manage the defect lifecycle — investigate, reproduce, triage and analyze logs/traces to provide precise root-cause information to development teams
Prepare and present test reports, quality evaluation and release recommendations with clear metrics (coverage, pass rate, defect trend) to project managers and customers
Ensure test activities and work products comply with ISO 26262, Automotive SPICE and customer-specific process requirements; support audits and assessments
Apply AI/GenAI tools to accelerate test case generation, script development and test data preparation, and promote these practices within the team
Collaborate closely with system, software, hardware and customer teams; participate in requirement reviews, design reviews and technical discussions
Coach and mentor junior test engineers, review their deliverables, and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools and reusable assets
Support presales and technical proposals by providing testing effort estimation, resource sizing and solution approach when required
Job Qualifications**
Solid skill and experience in test strategy, test planning, testing methodologies & process for automotive embedded/ECU projects, and Agile/V-model working models
Experience of requirement-based test case design (mandatory), test execution, defect reporting with traceability, and quality evaluation report
Strong hands-on experience in ECU testing across test levels: unit/component, integration, system and vehicle-level testing (MIL / SIL / HIL / bench & in-vehicle testing)
Solid knowledge of automotive communication protocols: CAN / CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet (SOME/IP), and diagnostics UDS (ISO 14229) / OBD / DoIP
Experience with automotive test tools: Vector CANoe / CANalyzer / CAPL, vTESTstudio, dSPACE, ETAS INCA, Lauterbach or equivalent
Experience in designing test automation framework & solution for HIL benches and embedded targets, including test rig configuration and fault injection
Experience in at least one of the following programming/scripting languages: Python (mandatory), CAPL, C/C++ (good to have)
Working knowledge of AUTOSAR (Classic/Adaptive) architecture and basic software modules is a strong plus
Familiar with automotive standards and process frameworks: ISO 26262 (ASIL), Automotive SPICE, ISO 21434 (cybersecurity) is a plus
Experience in testing Infotainment / IVI, ADAS or connected car (OTA, telematics) features is a plus
Experience with AI tools in generating automation script: GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, …
Experience with GenAI tools in generating test cases is a plus: MS Copilot / TestRail / Polarion / DOORS integration
Experience in integrating automated test scripts into CI/CD pipeline: Jenkins / GitLab / Azure DevOps (good to have)
Good English verbal communication; Japanese or Mandarin is a plus
