Job Title: Sterile Processing Tech
Department: Sterile Processing department
Location: Massena Hospital 1 Hospital Drive Massena, NY 13662
Hours Per Week: 24
Schedule: M-F 7a-3p or 9a-5p (Depends on the needs of the business)
SUMMARY:
Prepare and maintain the many life preserving articles and pieces of equipment that are necessary to provide the utmost in both patient and employee safety and generate the utmost in both patient care. Follow the direction and guidance of the Sterile Processing Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instrument & Supply Management: Receives, sorts, inspects, wraps, and sterilizes instruments, linens, and supplies from various hospital units, ensuring proper quality and inventory control.
Sterilization & Equipment Maintenance: Operates steam and gas sterilizers, records sterilization data, and monitors equipment functionality, reporting issues promptly.
Stocking & Distribution: Restocks supply carts and shelves, rotates inventory, processes supply requests, and maintains a clean, organized work area per departmental standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Certification/Licensure: Certification by the Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or
Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) upon hire or must obtain within two years of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Graduate or GED
Previous Central Service experience
Ability to read, interpret and understand charts and gauges associated with sterilization equipment
Ability to maintain records, interpret established procedures, etc.
Good interpersonal skills required to work effectively with co-workers and other hospital staff.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate - These roles require a combination of movement and stationary work, including frequent standing, walking, and moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Tasks may involve repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, or pulling, along with maintaining awareness in high-traffic or operational areas. Visual focus and spatial awareness are critical in facilities, logistics, or support settings. Emotional demands include managing interruptions, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. Environmental exposures may include equipment noise, shared workspaces, and occasional proximity to hazardous areas. Physical capability screening may be required.For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.

PAY RANGE:
$21.79 - $31.12The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
