Job Responsibilities:

Objective:

Performs and leads tasks in the installation, repair, maintenance and operation of mechanical, electrical, environmental controls, environmental systems, energy and chemical resource management as well as health & safety systems. Supports other teams and projects in areas like plant safety, quality, IATF compliance, MAFACT implementation, production attainment and cost goals.  Ensures facilities and equipment are operating properly and efficiently all with the ultimate goal of reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and ensuring safety.

 

Scope

All aspects and functions involved in the administration, planning and coordination of new or changed systems, including but not limited to physical assets, including buildings, equipment, grounds, HVAC and lighting.

 

Responsibilities, Duties and Authority: (These duties cover only the more significant responsibilities, they are not meant to be all inclusive.  Other duties may be given by the Management in addition to, or instead of, those listed here.)

  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance, operation and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Ensures proper operation of systems in compliance with required regulations and codes.
  • Responsible for an efficient and team driven focused operation that promotes continuous improvement in the areas of safety, cost, quality, delivery, environmental and technology.
  • Responsible for structured problem-solving and root cause analysis followed by system improvements and implementation of permanent countermeasures to improve measurables like MTTR and MTBF
  • Coaching Maintenance team on all aspects of working in world class manufacturing environment and the skills needed to support such environment
  • Implements and maintains a TPM program
  • Responsible to implement and maintain Standard Work for team members.
  • Schedule Preventive Maintenance and maintain database in computer software.
  • Ensure PM completion to business objectives.
  • Implement Predictive Maintenance activities to reduce cost.
  • Develops work instructions to train and engage operations employees in autonomous maintenance activities
  • Implements 5S in the maintenance department and applies 5S mythology.
  • Responsible for 5S in all Common Areas.
  • Ensure compliance of environmental and sanitation regulations.
  • Monitor and facilitate work order system and parts inventory.
  • Responsible for spare part planning and availability.
  • Assist the organization in implementation of MAFACT, including lean, standardized work and continuous improvement activities.
  • Utilize Downtime events and root cause analysis to consistently improve the Maintenance program and reduce unplanned downtime events
  • Plan for and respond to emergencies.
  • Maintain and regularly test facility contingency action plans.
  • Coordinates or assist with coordinating and overseeing the activities of outside contractors.
  • Responsible to setup and maintain proper shift to shift communication to ensure machine downtime is kept to a minimum.
  • Establishes maintenance schedules and resource assignments to meet operations requirements.
  • Performs Layered Process Audits (LPA’s).
  • Sets up and maintains required department measurable and reports KMI’s including MTTR and MTBF
  • Support Employee Charter and Open-Door Process.
  • Demonstrates, teaches and promotes Magna’s Common Values.
  • Completes hourly employees’ time edits as required.
  • Assists with business planning process.
  • Participates and promotes employee recognition programs.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including IATF16949, Mafact, ISO14001 (EMS), and Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and other regulations.
  • Responsible to provide a safe work environment for all employees through organization, cleanliness and open communication that assure compliance with State and Federal regulations.
  • Follows MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment) and Lockout.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities, submits improvement suggestions (CI, Safety & Environmental, CIP’s) as well as participation & learning of Mafact requirements & objectives.
  • Strong emphasis on identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Follow Magna’s Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies.
  • Manage multiple projects and deliverables while treating team members with dignity and respect and in accordance with the Magna Employee’s Charter and Common Values.
  • Complies with the designated ISO / 14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with MPT’s Environmental Management System (EMS).

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

All hourly facilities maintenance mechanics and maintenance positions report to the Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, coaching and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensure that all skillsets are available in the maintenance department to support the business

 

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree and\or Journeyman designation or equivalent. Minimum 7 years related work experience. Minimum 5 years Supervisory experience.   Minimum of 3 years’ experience with TPM systems maintaining equipment and facilities and support equipment. Knowledge of metal stamping, assembly, CNC machining and welding.  Must be a results oriented team player, effective at problem solving and project\planning\organizing with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high energy level and good attention to detail.  Demonstrates strong technical knowledge of a wide variety of facility processes. Understands all relevant regulations and standards.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) – Certification to be achieved within 1 year.

 

Additional Skills:

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.  Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Skills:  Ability to deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient on the computer, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).  Prior experience utilizing AS400 Database software and ability to create spreadsheets.

Problem Solving Skills:  Is able to conduct individually or in team settings structured problem solving. Understands and can apply 5 Why mythology, Skillful in analysis of problems, research to identify root causes and find solutions, creativity to find robust and effective solutions to problems.  Able to make decisions based on available information. Has sufficient technical knowledge to support effective problem solving.

Communication Skills:  Ability to use active listening and assertive communication when needed.  Ability to give positive and constructive criticism feedback effectively.  Communicates effectively with maintenance personnel, department heads, other managers, third-party vendors, and contractors. Calmly responds to emergencies. Remains organized in the midst of numerous processes.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is in an office setting and frequently on the plant floor.  The noise level in the office environment is usually low to moderate.  While on the plant floor the employee is exposed to low levels of vibration, moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the production environment is usually moderate to loud. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to high, precarious places and vibration.
