Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior DevSecOps Automation Solution Architect to support a large‑scale, multi‑year Mainframe Modernization initiative for a major federal customer. In this customer‑facing role, you will partner directly with the client’s technical and business stakeholders to design and implement modern engineering, automation, and delivery practices that accelerate their transformation from legacy mainframe systems to secure, cloud‑native platforms. As a key member of the modernization program’s architecture team, reporting to the Chief Architect, you will help shape the technical roadmap, lead solution development, and guide engineering teams through modern DevSecOps approaches that ensure reliability, security, and scalability throughout the transformation journey. Your work will directly support mission‑critical objectives and enable the customer to achieve long‑term operational modernization outcomes. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will collaborate closely with federal customer stakeholders to: 

• Design and communicate DevSecOps automation strategies that align legacy‑to‑cloud modernization goals and customer mission needs. 

• Build compelling technical briefings, modernization roadmaps, and reusable solution artifacts tailored for customer consumption.  

• LProvide guidance to engineering teams and customer personnel on CI/CD pipeline modernization, security integration, test automation, and cloud deployment approaches.  

• Evaluate legacy mainframe workflows and help plan prototype implementations demonstrating modernization feasibility and value.  

• Continuously assess modernization progress and support iterative improvements across development, deployment, security, and monitoring workflows.  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree preferred  

• 10+ years software development experience, including 5+ years in DevSecOps CI/CD and 3+ years developing cloud‑native software solutions (AWS Preferred).  

• Certifications in software development, DevSecOps, or cloud‑native architecture.  

• Expertise in DevSecOps automation, Agile/Lean delivery, and enterprise‑grade CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitLab/GitHub, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible, Sonatype, New Relic, Dynatrace, etc.).  

• Hands‑on experience designing and supporting cloud‑native architectures, containerized microservices, API‑driven interfaces, and event‑based systems. Strong background in application containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).  

• Proficiency in modern development frameworks and languages (Java, .NET, Node.js, Spring, Angular, React, JSON, etc.).  

• Experience working with large datasets, data migration strategies, and modernization‑aligned analytics workflows.  

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience helping federal customers adopt cloud‑native architectures and services (AWS, Azure, container‑based microservices, REST APIs).  

• Demonstrated ability to onboard teams into modern DevSecOps pipelines and accelerate adoption of automation practices.  

• Experience scaling high‑performance engineering solutions for structured and unstructured data.  

• Strong communication skills and confidence engaging directly with customer stakeholders at all levels.

The likely salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
