Hyperbaric Technician Safety Officer - FT Days

The Hyperbaric Technician Safety Officer Senior is responsible for the smooth operations of hyperbaric medicine unit. Ensures safe and effective operation, control and maintenance of the hyperbaric hardware system, as well as the safe and effective delivery of hyperbaric services.

Monitors patients before, during and after hyperbaric therapy and is responsible for the safe usage of the hyperbaric chamber. Devises the safe patient care delivery plans in conjunction with the assigned physician.

Your Everyday

• Works with the team to schedule patients and to accommodate emergency treatments. Responds to emergency calls in a timely manner to ensure treatment of hyperbaric emergencies.
• Maintains a preventative maintenance schedule for the hyperbaric systems and ensures compliance with this schedule. Maintains and ensures appropriate entries, recording of all required logs and all patient and billing information recorded as necessary.
• Processes hyperbaric equipment for cleaning, sterilizing and packaging, as required. Changes all oxygen, air, nitrogen and 60/40 nitrox bank tanks as needed and disposes of empty tanks in an appropriate manner.
• Ensures department compliance with regulatory and safety policies/codes and all safety procedures while diving patients. Performs safety checks and conducts, supervises and evaluates drills as required by the institution and various regulatory bodies.
• Evaluates chamber equipment/supplies for safe use inside hyperbaric chambers.
• Conducts an annual review of safety related items in order to identify trends and monitor improvements.
• Provides training to other hyperbaric technicians in chamber operations, log procedures, documentation requirements, maintenance and safety procedures.
• Demonstrates and actively promotes compliance with all state, federal regulatory and accrediting agencies (i.e., patient safety, infection control, HIPAA, etc.).

The Must-Haves

 

• 4 years of hyperbaric facility operation 
• 2 years of supervisory experience
• Diving background (Dive School, Commercial, Military) 
• Certification by NBDHMT 

• NREMT, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, LPN, or RN
• Current Louisiana licensure appropriate to specialty training 

• BCLS
