The Sales Operations Manager plays a critical role in enabling commercial excellence across Modern Trade retail environment in both Malaysia and Singapore. This role is responsible for leading and driving execution planning across all in-store Picture of Success metrics, performance management, systems optimization, and operational efficiency to support sustainable business growth.
You will act as an important member in Sales Ops Function assisting Modern Trade Sales Leadership, ensuring execution discipline, data-driven decision-making, and alignment across vendor and key commercial functions including Sales, Category Planning, Finance, Marketing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Operations & Execution Excellence
- Optimize sales processes, tools, and systems to improve field productivity and efficiency
- Ensure consistent execution of sales fundamentals across retailers and channels (Modern Trade)
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to simplify workflows and eliminate inefficiencies
- Partner with field sales teams to ensure operational alignment and execution readiness
2. Sales Planning & Performance Management
- Lead the sales execution planning cycle, including, but not limited to, developing business scorecard and sales reports (weekly & monthly), custodian of sales execution related SOPs and data
- Translate business strategy into actionable sales targets, KPIs, and operational plans
- Monitor and analyse sales performance vs. targets, identifying risks and opportunities
- Drive cadence of business reviews (e.g., Quarterly Business Reviews, Monthly Sales Operations Reviews) with leadership & vendor
- Develop dashboards and reporting frameworks to enhance visibility and decision-making
3. Budget & Trade Spend Management
- Optimize total merchandising investment
- Collaborate with Finance and Sales teams to manage trade spend effectively
- Support development of commercial policies and governance frameworks
4. Data Analytics & Insights
- Leverage data analytics to generate actionable insights on sales performance, distribution, and market trends
- Utilize tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, CRM systems) to build predictive and diagnostic analytics
- Provide recommendations to improve sales effectiveness and business outcomes
5. Systems & Digital Transformation
- Lead adoption and optimization of sales systems (e.g., TRAX, SFA, CRM tools)
- Identify opportunities for automation and digitalization within sales operations
- Act as the key liaison with IT and regional teams on system enhancements and implementations
6. Stakeholder Management & Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Sales Leadership & Cross-functional teams
- Influence decision-making through data-backed insights and strong business acumen
- Align local execution with regional/global sales strategies
7. Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales operations team
- Build organizational capabilities in analytics, planning, and operational excellence
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Marketing, or related field (MBA is an advantage)
- 6–8+ years of experience in Sales Operations, Commercial Excellence, or Sales within FMCG or related industries
- Proven experience in sales operations, performance management, and analytics
- Strong understanding of Malaysia and Singapore market dynamics across channels
- Experience managing trade spend and commercial budgets
