Overview
Southern Air Mechanical is hiring an HVAC Helper to support our field crews across the Alvarado area and surrounding communities. This is an entry-level, hands-on role built for someone who wants to learn the trade from the ground up. You'll work alongside experienced technicians every day, gaining the practical skills and job-site experience that lead to a long-term career in HVAC. No prior HVAC experience is required — we're looking for reliability, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Assist technicians with residential HVAC work in customers' homes
- Load, unload, and organize equipment, tools, and materials
- Help move and position units, ductwork, and supplies on the job site
- Perform basic hand tool work under the direction of the lead technician
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe throughout the day
- Protect customer property with drop cloths, floor coverings, and careful handling
- Maintain truck stock, tools, and equipment in good working condition
- Represent Southern Air Mechanical professionally in every customer interaction
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Complete other duties as assigned by the lead technician or manager
Requirements
Qualifications
- Willingness to learn the HVAC trade — no prior experience required
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in attics, crawl spaces, and outdoor conditions in all seasons
- Comfortable working on ladders and in confined spaces
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work a full-time schedule
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Must be 18 years of age or older to apply
