About the role:

The role of the Mental Health Consultation Liaison Nurse Clinician is a consultative one and is intended to collaborate with and support staff in non mental health areas of the hospital in their care and treatment of patients with behavioural and/or psychiatric/mental health concerns.

What you bring:

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse
  • CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the College of Nurses Professional Standards of Practice and Standards of Psychiatric/Mental Health Clinical Nursing Practice
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ recent experience in acute mental health
  • Current experience in medicine and geriatric fields
  • Strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Crisis Prevention Institute Certificate or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate patient care, involving the client, family, other disciplines and collateral agencies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric needs of medically ill patients
  • Demonstrated skills of patient assessment with a delirium and dementia diagnosis
  • Demonstrated risk assessment skills including suicide and self-harm risks
  • Demonstrates a patient focused attitude toward care
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of DSM V classification, psychopharmacology, and psychiatric/mental health legislation, and strong working knowledge of the Mental Health Act
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload
