Description

Amentum is seeking a qualified Machinery Control System (MCS)/Integrated Ship Control (ISC) – DDG/CG to provide full-time, onsite support for Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA.  In this role, you will perform technical assistance, assessments, inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective/preventative maintenance on critical Code 262 Electrical and Interior Communication (IC) systems.  This position supports a diverse fleet of U.S. Navy and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) in-service ships.

Job responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance, assessments, inspections, troubleshooting, and groom support for switchboards, load centers, distribution panels, circuit breakers, cathodic protection, and degaussing systems.

  • Conduct and observe cold/hot checks of equipment. Note conditions and settings that fall out of specification. Observe ship's force operating systems to witness the full range of equipment performance.

  • Conduct oversight of repairs on engines and equipment for technical completion and standards onboard ships or in shipyards. Oversee ship’s force adjustments and repairs to the maximum extent possible.

  • Use appropriate measuring and test equipment to obtain data for evaluation. Interpret ship drawings, schematics, and technical manuals to isolate and repair problems.

  • Provide a written visit debrief/report to the corresponding government Subject Matter Expert (SME) upon completing each ship visit. Compile information, history files, and labeled digital pictures using Microsoft Office.

  • Provide on-the-job training to ship's force during shipboard evolutions. Attend requested conferences or seminars and report discussion outcomes to the government SME.

  • Fabricate, assemble, receive, install, remove, inventory, package, store, and ship performance materials. Acquire or procure incidental material items necessary to complete tasks.

  • Independently manage execution techniques, control, and supervision of contracted personnel, ensuring deliverables meet the Quality Assurance Surveillance Plan (QASP).

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in operation, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance,

  • and assessment of DDG MCS and/or CG ISC and support systems, with at least six (6) months’ experience occurring within the last twelve (12) months.

  • Possess working knowledge of Universal Engine Controllers (UEC), Interim Integrated Electronic Controller (IIEC), Engine Controllers (EC), Shaft Control Units (SCU), Universal Control Consoles (UCC), and Digital Fuel Control (DFC), Stand Alone Maintenance Unit (SAMU) computer, Data Acquisition Unit (DAU), Data Acquisition Enclosure (DAE), ISC, TAC-4 Consoles and other shipboard control and monitoring devices.

  • Ability to troubleshoot propulsion and auxiliary hardware, such as transducers, Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTE), Thermocouples, Signal Conditioners, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), FADC, and PC-based control and monitoring systems.

  • Must have working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, shipboard visit processes, and formal reporting methods.

  • Demonstrated ability to read schematics, blueprints, and tech manuals. Proficient in Microsoft Office for compiling reports and formatting/enhancing digital report photos.

  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills for writing technical report findings and debriefing government SMEs.

  • The position requires the ability to work onboard US Navy ships and access ship repair industrial facilities.

  • The position may require travel.

  • Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.

       

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits:

This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act. The amount you are entitled to receive will vary depending upon the fringe benefits you select now and in the future.

       

Compensation Details:

$30.81
