About this Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Engineer Application Operations (Database Administrator) to join our Telecom/IT operations team. This is a critical role supporting our 24×7 production database infrastructure across multiple platforms. You will work with enterprise-grade databases in a high-availability environment, managing standby systems, performance optimization, and incident response for our telecom operations. This position offers exposure to modern database technologies and opportunities to develop automation and monitoring capabilities in a complex, mission-critical setting.
What You Will Do
- Execute daily BAU (Business As Usual) checks and health monitoring from a database operations perspective
- Join System Recovery Teams (SRTs) to provide database expertise during incidents and escalations
- Develop, test, and deploy automated monitoring and alerting scripts to improve operational visibility
- Perform database performance tuning and SQL optimization on PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, and other platforms
- Troubleshoot production database issues, applying expertise in standby/failover scenarios
- Design, code, test, and integrate custom database solutions and implementations aligned with SDLC phases, including PL/SQL development
- Prepare technical documentation and solution descriptions for custom implementations
- Own assigned tasks end-to-end, coordinating across teams to ensure timely resolution
- Maintain adherence to SLA targets, ticket quality metrics, and incident management processes per MSDP standards
- Support 24×7 operations with on-call rotations as required
You Will Bring
- 3–5 years of hands-on DBA experience in Telecom or IT environments
- Proficiency with multiple database platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra) with demonstrated ability to learn new technologies
- Strong understanding of production standby database concepts, failover mechanisms, and high-availability architectures
- Proven expertise in database performance tuning, query optimization, and SQL troubleshooting
- Solid grasp of common database operational issues and systematic troubleshooting methodologies
- Experience across SDLC phases including design, coding, testing, integration, and PL/SQL programming
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure: networks, servers, security systems, and client-server environments (advantageous)
- Commitment to operational excellence, process adherence, and customer-focused service delivery
