## About the role

ATB Cormark Capital Markets is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ATB Financial, an Alberta-based institution with offices in Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Denver. Together, we represent a highly specialized team of experts who provide a full suite of financial service solutions, including :

  • M&A Advisory: Mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and private equity transactions
  • Capital Markets: Equity and debt capital raising
  • Corporate Banking: Underwriting, syndication, and project finance
  • Trading & Research: Institutional sales, trading, and sector-specific equity research

ATB Cormark Capital Markets is seeking a 2027 Investment Banking Summer Analyst to join our Calgary office, supporting the firm’s Energy coverage team across traditional oil & gas, midstream, and energy transition sectors

Role Details:

  • Location: 100% onsite at our Calgary, AB office
  • Term: May - August 2027

## Accountabilities

Primary duties consist of, but are not limited to:

  • Develop comprehensive pitch books, client presentations, and marketing materials to support strategic client decision-making
  • Support deal teams across the execution lifecycle of advisory and financing mandates, taking on progressively higher levels of responsibility
  • Evaluate corporate financial health, perform rigorous valuation analyses, and build comprehensive financial models
  • Conduct in-depth industry and company research to track market trends, evaluate sector risks, and identify actionable opportunities
  • Analyze energy market fundamentals, commodity trends, and sector-specific metrics to support mandates within the energy group
  • Maintain and build internal databases, trackers, and spreadsheets to streamline team workflows

## Skills, experience & requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce, or a related discipline, with an expected graduation date in Spring or Summer 2028 (though exceptionally strong candidates outside this timeframe may be considered)
  • Strong foundational knowledge of business, finance, and economics, reinforced by academic excellence and relevant extracurricular or professional experience
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills with rigorous attention to detail, paired with the ability to quickly master complex concepts
  • Demonstrated capability in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, alongside familiarity with financial research databases (S&P Capital IQ, FactSet, and Bloomberg)
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative approach to building professional relationships
  • Proven track record of personal achievement, sound independent judgment, and the capacity to take on increasing responsibility in a fast-paced environment
