Description
Selected team members will begin onboarding and specialty training at our established Marietta hospital beginning September 2026, providing the opportunity to learn alongside experienced emergency clinicians, specialists, and advanced nursing teams before transitioning into our brand-new Dunwoody facility.
What You'll Do
Your responsibilities may include:
Emergency Nursing and Patient Care
- Perform patient assessments, obtain vital parameters, and recognize changes in patient condition
- Triage incoming emergency cases and assist with prioritization of patient needs
- Provide nursing care for hospitalized emergency and critical patients
- Administer medications through appropriate routes including IV, IM, and SQ
- Manage fluid therapy, constant rate infusions (CRIs), and blood product administration when indicated
- Participate in patient rounds and communicate updates with the medical team
Diagnostics and Technical Procedures
- Perform venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement
- Collect and prepare diagnostic samples
- Assist with laboratory diagnostics and point-of-care testing
- Perform digital radiography and proper patient positioning
- Support advanced diagnostic procedures as needed
Emergency Procedures and Critical Care Support
- Assist with sedation, anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Monitor patients utilizing ECG, pulse oximetry, blood pressure monitoring, capnography, and temperature monitoring
- Support oxygen therapy, oxygen cages, and other critical care interventions
- Assist with CPR and emergency response efforts
- Maintain patient comfort, safety, and continuity of care
Team Collaboration and Clinical Excellence
- Partner with veterinarians, emergency clinicians, and specialty teams
- Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
- Support efficient patient flow in a fast-paced emergency environment
- Advocate for patients and provide compassionate support to families during stressful situations
Who We're Looking For
- 2+ years of veterinary hospital experience preferred
- Experience in Emergency, Critical Care, Specialty Medicine, Surgery, or high-volume General Practice
- Strong foundation in:
- Veterinary nursing
- Patient monitoring
- Venipuncture
- IV catheter placement
- Medication administration
- Anesthesia monitoring
- Client communication
- LVT, RVT, or CVT credential
- Emergency or Critical Care experience
- RECOVER CPR Certification
- Advanced anesthesia experience
- Experience managing hospitalized or high-acuity patients
- Interest in pursuing advanced specialty training or VTS credentialing
