Job Description Performs and reports results of a variety of chemical, serological, hematological, immuno-hematological, and microscopic tests and procedures to be used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease following established laboratory procedures and protocols. Performs the most complex testing. Assists in the training of MLT students.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities Perform laboratory procedures using established and approved protocols that require moderate to broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision at career entry. Perform a broad range of laboratory procedures rotating through multiple departments (blood banking, chemistry, hematology, immunology, microbiology) appropriate to the services provided and to the ages of the patients served. Phlebotomy collections as needed. Must be able to adapt your schedule to the needs of the lab, covering other shifts/extended shifts when needed. Participate in weekend call rotation and holiday rotation.
Qualifications
Qualifications An associate degree or bachelor's degree in medical technology or medical laboratory science is required. One year of experience is preferred. Certification or eligibility for certification as Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or equivalent is required.
