Summary of the Role

We are looking for a motivated Working Student (m/f/d) in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field to support our Product Development team in Erkrath. In this role, you will work closely with Product Development Engineers and gain hands-on experience in an international engineering and product development environment.

You will contribute to electrical and software development projects, support testing and analysis activities, and assist with technical documentation and data evaluation. Depending on your experience and interests, you may also support software tools, test automation, control systems, and the evaluation of measurement data.

Role and Responsibilities

• Support the development, testing, and validation of electrical and software-based systems.
• Assist with the setup, wiring, commissioning, and troubleshooting of prototypes and test equipment.
• Support software development, debugging, testing, and test automation activities.
• Help develop and improve internal engineering, data analysis, and software tools.
• Collect, process, analyze, and document measurement and test data.
• Create and maintain electrical, software, and product-related technical documentation.
• Support product improvement, troubleshooting, and engineering activities across the product development lifecycle.
• Coordinate technical tasks with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and other departments.
• Participate in project meetings and present results when required.
• Perform other product development tasks as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems, control technology, software development, industrial automation, or related engineering disciplines.
• Initial programming experience, preferably in Python, JavaScript, C/C++, or a comparable programming language.
• Experience with PLC systems, test automation, data analysis, industrial communication systems, or measurement equipment is beneficial but not required.
• Previous internship experience, technical project work, or hands-on engineering experience is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of electrical schematics, measurement techniques, and technical systems.
• Interest in electrical engineering, software development, automation, control technology, and data-driven problem solving.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Good written and spoken English skills; German language skills are an advantage.
• Independent, structured, and hands-on working style with the ability to manage assigned tasks effectively.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an international team environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proactive attitude, curiosity, and a strong willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
