Senior Manager, AML Compliance (ABAC)

The Senior Manager, AML Compliance (ABAC) leads the company's Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) program and serves as the primary subject matter expert on corruption risk management for Western Union. This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of risk-based controls designed to prevent, detect, and address bribery and corruption risks across the organization.

The Senior Manager, AML Compliance (ABAC ) partners closely with Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, Finance, Procurement, Human Resources, Investigations, and business leadership to ensure compliance with applicable anti-corruption laws and regulations, including the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, UK Bribery Act, and other global requirements.

This role leads key anti-corruption initiatives, supports third-party risk management, supports investigations, conducts risk assessments, and drives a culture of integrity and ethical business conduct throughout the organization. We’re seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager to lead our ABAC office and join our team in Atlanta.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Lead the Anti-Corruption Office

  • Lead Western Union's ABAC office and team.
  • Develop and execute the anti-corruption program strategy.
  • Establish priorities based on evolving regulatory expectations and business risk.
  • Serve as the primary advisor to legal, compliance, and business leaders on anti-corruption matters.
  • Coordinate cross-functional activities to ensure consistent implementation of anti-corruption controls globally.

Anti-Corruption Program Management

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve anti-bribery and anti-corruption policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Maintain governance processes for gifts, hospitality, travel, charitable contributions, sponsorships, political activities, and government interactions.
  • Develop program standards, guidance, and compliance tools to support business operations.
  • Monitor program effectiveness and drive remediation of identified control gaps.

Risk Assessment and Monitoring

  • Lead the company’s anti-corruption risk assessments and targeted risk reviews.
  • Identify corruption risks associated with business activities, government-facing interactions, third-party relationships, and geographic markets.
  • Develop risk-based monitoring and testing activities to assess compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze compliance data and metrics to identify trends and emerging risks.

Third-Party Risk Management

  • Support the anti-corruption due diligence program for agents, distributors, consultants, suppliers, and other third parties.
  • Review and assess third-party risk profiles and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Advise business stakeholders regarding third-party onboarding and ongoing monitoring requirements.

Investigations and Remediation

  • Support investigations involving allegations of bribery, corruption, improper payments, books and records violations, and related misconduct.
  • Coordinate investigative efforts with Legal and Human Resources.

Training, Communications, and Culture

  • Develop and deliver anti-corruption training and awareness initiatives.
  • Create targeted training for high-risk functions and geographic regions.
  • Provide practical guidance to employees and leaders on anti-corruption requirements.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, ethical decision-making, and accountability.

Transactions and Strategic Initiatives

  • Lead anti-corruption due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic business initiatives.
  • Advise on corruption-related risks and mitigation strategies during transactions.
  • Support integration of acquired entities into the company's compliance framework.

Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Prepare periodic reporting on anti-corruption risks, trends, investigations, and program effectiveness.
  • Present findings and recommendations to legal leadership and senior management.
  • Support internal audits, external assessments, and regulatory inquiries involving anti-corruption matters.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and emerging enforcement trends to ensure program alignment with leading practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in ethics and compliance, legal, investigations, internal audit, risk management, or related fields.
  • 8+ years of experience managing anti-bribery and anti-corruption programs within a multinational organization.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting corruption risk assessments, investigations, and third-party due diligence reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of the FCPA, UK Bribery Act, and global anti-corruption regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual - Spanish

Salary 

The base salary range is $115,000 – $153,000.00 per year, total on target compensation includes a base salary plus annual incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
