Position Summary
A leading manufacturer of high-speed automation solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician (Commissioning) to install, commission, and support advanced automated packaging systems for customers across North America and internationally.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically skilled professional with strong electro-mechanical experience who enjoys hands-on work, troubleshooting complex automation equipment, and travelling to customer sites. The successful candidate will serve as the technical representative during equipment installation and commissioning, ensuring systems are fully operational and customers receive exceptional technical support and training.
International travel of up to 50% is required. Candidates must be Canadian citizens and possess a valid Canadian passport.
Compensation
- Hourly Rate: $40.00 – $50.00 per hour
- Compensation above the stated range may be considered based on experience, qualifications, and the overall hiring process.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the installation, commissioning, testing, and start-up of high-speed automated equipment at customer sites.
- Take ownership of projects from system installation through commissioning and final customer acceptance.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams during design reviews, equipment implementation, and system validation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Document commissioning activities, technical findings, and corrective actions.
- Train customer operators and maintenance personnel on equipment operation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Deliver outstanding technical support and customer service while representing the organization professionally at customer facilities.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company standards and customer requirements.
- Travel extensively throughout Canada and internationally to support customer installations and service requirements.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on commissioning experience with automated machinery, packaging equipment, or industrial automation systems.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills involving mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong verbal, written, and technical communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong client relationships.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while managing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%, both domestically and internationally.
- Must be a Canadian citizen with a valid Canadian passport.
