Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon – Soft Tissue Knee - Abu Dhabi

Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in Soft Tissue Knee Surgery to join our Orthopedics Department in Abu Dhabi.The successful candidate will provide comprehensive diagnosis and surgical management of soft tissue and sports-related knee conditions, with particular expertise in ligament, meniscal and cartilage injuries.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide consultant-level assessment and management of patients with knee disorders.Diagnose and treat:ACL and PCL injuriesMCL and LCL injuriesMeniscal tearsMultiligament knee injuriesCartilage injuries and defectsPatellofemoral disordersTendon and ligament disordersSports-related knee injuriesKnee instabilityPerform advanced knee procedures, including:Arthroscopic knee surgeryACL/PCL reconstructionMultiligament reconstructionMeniscal repair and meniscectomyCartilage restoration proceduresPatellar stabilization proceduresOther soft tissue knee reconstruction procedures within clinical expertisePerform comprehensive preoperative assessment and develop individualized surgical treatment plans.Provide postoperative management and coordinate rehabilitation and return-to-sport programs.Work closely with Sports Medicine physicians, physiotherapists, radiologists and rehabilitation specialists.Participate in outpatient knee clinics, operating lists and on-call services as required.Contribute to multidisciplinary sports medicine and orthopedic meetings.Participate in clinical protocols, quality improvement and patient-safety initiatives.Teach and supervise residents, fellows and junior physicians.Contribute to clinical research, audits and service development.Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with UAE healthcare regulations and hospital policies.QualificationsMedical degree from a recognized medical school.Completed recognized postgraduate training in Orthopedic Surgery.Recognized Board Certification/Specialist or Consultant qualification in Orthopedic Surgery.Fellowship or advanced formal training in Sports Knee / Knee Surgery / Arthroscopy is highly desirable.Valid Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi Consultant license/eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery.Required ExperienceSignificant post-specialist experience as a Consultant/Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon.Demonstrated subspecialty experience in Soft Tissue Knee Surgery.Strong independent experience in knee arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction.Extensive experience managing ACL, PCL, meniscal and other sports-related knee injuries.Experience managing professional, elite or competitive athletes is highly desirable.Preferred ExperienceFellowship training in Knee Surgery, Sports Orthopedics or Arthroscopy.Advanced experience in complex ligament reconstruction.Experience in cartilage restoration and meniscal preservation techniques.Experience with computer-assisted or navigation-assisted knee procedures is an advantage.Experience working with professional sports teams or high-performance athletes is desirable.Academic, teaching, research or quality-improvement experience is an advantage.Core CompetenciesAdvanced clinical and surgical expertise in soft tissue knee conditions.Excellent arthroscopic and reconstructive surgical skills.Strong diagnostic and operative decision-making.Expertise in sports injury management and return-to-sport planning.Excellent multidisciplinary communication and teamwork.Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered orthopedic care.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate will be a DoH Abu Dhabi–licensed/eligible Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon with dedicated fellowship or advanced training in Soft Tissue Knee Surgery, Sports Orthopedics or Arthroscopy, with substantial independent experience in ACL/PCL reconstruction, meniscal surgery, cartilage procedures and complex sports-related knee injuries.
