Safety Manager

Description

The Safety Manager provides leadership, direction, and oversight for the organization’s workplace safety, health, and environmental programs. A primary responsibility of this position will be to develop, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive facility-wide safety program.

This position is responsible for evaluating the organization’s current safety practices, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement, and developing the policies, procedures, systems, and processes necessary to create a proactive and sustainable safety management program.

The successful candidate must demonstrate a proven record of developing and successfully implementing safety programs, policies, procedures, and improvement initiatives within a manufacturing or industrial environment, including the ability to drive adoption, establish accountability, measure effectiveness, and produce measurable improvements in workplace safety performance.

Requirements

· Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive safety management program for the facility.

· Evaluate current safety programs, policies, practices, documentation, and employee behaviors to identify compliance gaps, operational risks, and improvement opportunities.

· Develop a structured safety program addressing applicable regulatory and operational areas, including but not limited to:

• o Lockout/Tagout
• o Machine Guarding
• o Mechanical Power Press Safety
• o Hazard Communication
• o Personal Protective Equipment
• o Powered Industrial Trucks/Forklifts
• o Emergency Preparedness
• o Hearing Conservation
• o Job Hazard Analysis / Job Safety Analysis
• o Near-Miss Reporting
• o Environmental Safety
• o Safety Training and Documentation

· Establish clear safety standards, procedures, responsibilities, and accountability throughout all departments and shifts.

· Develop implementation plans, timelines, objectives, and measurable performance expectations for safety initiatives.

· Lead the rollout and adoption of new safety programs, policies, and procedures across the organization.

· Maintain ownership of safety initiatives from initial development through implementation, employee training, follow-up, auditing, and long-term sustainability.

· Ensure safety programs evolve with changes in regulations, equipment, processes, workforce needs, and organizational growth. 

· Promote a proactive safety culture focused on prevention rather than reaction.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive workplace safety programs within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

· Demonstrated experience and proven record of successfully implementing safety initiatives, including the ability to demonstrate adoption, sustained compliance, corrective-action completion, or measurable improvements in safety performance.

· Demonstrated ability to influence supervisors, managers, and employees and drive organizational change related to workplace safety.

· Ability to establish safety performance expectations and hold appropriate personnel accountable for completion of corrective actions and compliance with established programs.
