Description
Prof Liu Xuewei’s group is looking for a scientifically talented and motivated individual who can work at the interface of organic synthesis, chemical biology and functional molecule development. The candidate will conduct experimental research, contribute to high-quality research outputs, and support the research profile and reputation of NTU.
This position requires a highly motivated individual interested in addressing research challenges in the synthesis and evaluation of functional molecules.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and carry out laboratory experiments in organic synthesis and related chemical research under the guidance of the Principal Investigator and research team.
Optimize reaction conditions and support the preparation of target compounds, intermediate and functional molecular systems.
Design and prepare functional molecules, chemical probes, bioconjugates or biomolecule-derived constructs for chemical biology studies.
Conduct or support appropriate biochemical, biophysical or analytical experiments to evaluate the properties, reactivity and biological functions of synthesized compounds.
Purify and characterize compounds using appropriate techniques such as chromatography, NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and HPLC.
Analyze experimental data, maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare clear summaries, reports and presentation materials.
Conduct literature searches and contributes to experimental planning, troubleshooting and the interpretation of results.
Assist routine laboratory duties and maintenance, such as chemical inventory, instrument coordination, waste disposal and procurement of research materials.
Follow institutional safety requirements and good laboratory practices, and collaborate effectively with students, researchers and external partners where appropriate
Job requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Biology, Pharmaceutical Science or a related discipline. If the university that the candidate graduated from has an honors system, at least second upper class honor is required.
Foundational knowledge of organic chemistry and practical experience in laboratory-based chemical synthesis.
Familiarity with the handling, modification or characterization of biologically relevant molecules, or with biochemical, biophysical or other biological evaluation methods, would be advantageous.
Experience with common purification and characterization techniques, such as column chromatography, TLC, NMR spectroscopy or HPLC.
Ability to follow experimental procedures, analyses results and maintain accurate and organized research records.
Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Careful, responsible and safety-conscious approach to laboratory work, with good organizational and time-management skills.
Candidates with hands-on experience in reaction development, chemical conjugation, chemical biology or related interdisciplinary research would be advantageous.
Entry-level candidates with relevant laboratory or undergraduate research experience are welcome to apply.
We regret to inform you that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
