Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer

Location: Remote; travel may be required in support of meetings, training, presentations, or briefings with project stakeholders
Required Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain the required VA background investigation/suitability determination
Certifications: Certification in one or more of the following: IAT III, IAM III or IASAE III certifications. IAT III/ IAM III / IASAE III certifications may be substituted for a relevant Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant experience
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Assurance, Information Security, Information Resource Management, or related fields.
Required Experience: Minimum of 10 years IT experience of which at least 5 years are of Quantum Computing and Cryptography experience at a large corporation or Government agency similar in size/scope to GSA, IRS, DoD or VA. A Master’s degree in a related IT field may substitute for up to 2 years of the required experience. 

Description

PingWind is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer to join our dynamic team supporting a large Federal Government client. Provide specialized expertise in quantum computing, cryptographic technologies, post-quantum cryptography (PQC), and quantum-resistant algorithms to support enterprise cryptographic modernization and risk reduction. The Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer will collaborate with technical teams and leadership to evaluate emerging technologies, develop implementation strategies, and communicate complex quantum and cryptographic risks in support of our government client's long-term cybersecurity posture.

Responsibilities

• Assess quantum technologies and their potential cybersecurity and cryptographic impacts.
• Evaluate cryptographic protocols, algorithms, standards, and PKI to identify modernization priorities.
• Develop quantum-resistant algorithm migration plans and PQC implementation strategies.
• Assess cryptographic inventories and prioritize systems requiring migration or remediation.
• Develop, implement, and test cryptographic and quantum solutions using applicable programming and simulation tools.
• Provide guidance aligned with NIST PQC standards, including FIPS 203, 204, and 205.
• Communicate quantum risks and migration recommendations to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain required VA background investigation/suitability and system access.
• Expertise in quantum computing, cryptographic protocols, and PQC.
• Experience developing or advising on quantum-resistant migration strategies.
• Expertise in project management or working in a project-oriented environment, with an understanding of how configuration management fits into the overall project lifecycle within a large corporation and Government agency similar in size/scope to GSA, IRS, DoD or VA.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in quantum computing, cryptography, computer science, mathematics, or related field.
• Federal cryptographic modernization experience.
• Hands-on PQC implementation or migration experience.
