Basic Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent (4 years job-related experience). Requires an additional 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree.  Must have Linux experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced Engineering Support Specialist supporting the Nosis and STRMS Programs. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports the knowledge, training, qualification, and proficiency of some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems.  Our employees work closely with esteemed fleet and government customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions around the world.

In our highly collaborative and global environment, you’ll provide lab, onboard, and distance support and services direct to our fleet customers and our own field support team with cloud technologies. Essentially, you’ll perform research, data transfers, troubleshooting, installations, and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, fielding, troubleshooting, and repairing of Nosis and Nosis Cloud software, devices, systems, and third-party applications.  Your will perform technical activities which impact the proposal, system level design, detail design and manufacture of advanced software and cloud services systems.

What you bring to the table:

• Bachelor’s or Technology degree in Engineering or a related specialized area/field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience, plus 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree.
• Subject matter expert (SME) in one discipline/field and developing working knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields
• Proficient understanding and application of engineering principles, concepts, practices, and standards

• Must be able to complete all requirements for DoD 8570 Certification within 6 months
• Strong organizational, communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work effectively with end users to diagnose issues, communicate corrective actions, and report resolution status.
• Use of and/or administration of the Nosis shipboard software is a plus
• Linux Server Administration Experience
• Linux + Certification or equivalent training and experience is a plus
• Cloud Computing, Support, or Administration Experience
• DevOps and containerized workload experience
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code languages like, HashiCorp Terraform, Open Tofu, Ansible, or Cloud Formation
• Amazon Web Services Credentials, or equivalent
• Experience with database operations, for maintenance, routine upgrades, and security patching.
• Able to perform application upgrades cloud-based environments for containerized workloads

Workplace Options:This position is fully on-site or Flex.  While on-site, you will be a part of either the Groton, CT or Manassas, VA facility.

Salary Note

This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.). Actual pay may vary. This job posting will remain open until the position is filled.

Combined Salary Range

USD $86,116.00 - USD $95,534.00 /Yr.
