We are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our Electrical Services team. This person will play an important role in helping us identify, price, and win profitable electrical projects.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong electrical field knowledge who has transitioned into estimating, or an experienced estimator who understands what it takes to successfully execute a project in the field.
Compensation: $71,000 - $91,000 annually based on experience
Location: Central Florida: primarily remote, with occasional on-site meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, scopes, and bid documents to prepare accurate estimates.
- Complete material and labor takeoffs for commercial and residential electrical projects.
- Estimate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, permits, rentals, and other project costs.
- Interpret blueprints, electrical plans, one-lines, schedules, and specifications.
- Identify scope gaps, conflicts, exclusions, and project risks.
- Obtain and maintain current pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Prepare competitive proposals based on project requirements.
- Work with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure estimates reflect actual project needs.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and scope reviews as needed.
- Communicate with customers, GCs, vendors, and subcontractors to clarify scope and pricing.
- Support bid strategy, value engineering, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain estimating records, historical pricing, labor data, and project information.
- Participate in project handoffs and clearly communicate scope, assumptions, and exclusions.
- Review completed projects against estimates to improve future bids.
- Stay current on NEC requirements, local codes, pricing, and industry practices.
- Improve estimating processes, templates, and standards.
- Support and mentor less-experienced estimators and field team members.
- Contribute to bid/no-bid decisions, pricing reviews, and project-risk discussions.
Requirements
- 3+ years of electrical estimating experience preferred.
- Strong electrical construction knowledge; significant field experience will be highly valued.
- Experience estimating commercial electrical projects preferred.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of electrical materials, installation methods, labor requirements, and project sequencing.
- Knowledge of NEC requirements and applicable local electrical codes.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in project documents.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable communicating with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with electrical estimating software such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, Bluebeam, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Experience with Procore, Autodesk, or other construction management platforms is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Demonstrated ability to positively influence teammates and project outcomes, with or without formal authority.
- Comfortable explaining recommendations, challenging assumptions respectfully, and making decisions when information is incomplete.
- A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in helping other people develop.
- The judgment to balance estimating accuracy, competitiveness, operational capacity, customer relationships, and long-term profitability.
- Interest in growing into broader responsibility as the company and department continue to develop.
