Job Description:
As a recent graduate with an architectural degree, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team under the general direction of a licensed Architect. You will perform architectural and/or interior design assignments while also contributing to the development and coordination of signage and wayfinding programs, particularly for large-scale transportation and other complex projects. This role requires a solid working knowledge of architectural standards, practices, and techniques, along with the ability to integrate clear, consistent signage and wayfinding into the overall design.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce CAD drawings, renderings, layouts, study models, construction documents, and color boards for specific architectural or interior design tasks from general design information, in accordance with established standards, procedures, and client requirements.
- Compile data, specifications, rough sketches, and other inputs and formalize them into working drawings and/or models.
- Utilize technical manuals to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Compile data and perform dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings and design layouts.
- Produce drawings and specifications that have been redlined by others.
- Research and develop design and product solutions and present them for consideration.
- Inspect architectural or interior design features on project sites and record existing conditions.
- Interface with other project team members to set goals and meet shared deadlines.
Signage & Wayfinding Integration
- Undertake signage and wayfinding tasks as part of broader architectural and interior design assignments.
- Assist in the development of signage and wayfinding programs for transportation and other complex projects.
- Work directly with the signage team and associated disciplines to provide project-specific signage and wayfinding solutions that are accurate, clear, and consistent within defined project parameters.
- Coordinate signage and wayfinding elements within drawings and construction documents to ensure alignment with overall architectural intent, user experience, and client standards.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design or equivalent is required.
- 2+ years of related architectural and/or interior design experience.
- Completion of the NCARB Intern Development Program or related program and progress toward architectural licensure is preferred.
- Experience or strong interest in signage and wayfinding, particularly for transportation or other large-scale projects, is desirable.
Skills & Competencies
- Working knowledge of architectural and/or interior design standards, practices, and techniques.
- Demonstrated proficiency in sketching, rendering, model-building, and presentation drawing
- Demonstrated proficiencies in both AutoCAD and Revit software, as well as other PC software packages typically associated with architectural and interior design.
- Ability to integrate signage and wayfinding concepts into architectural designs and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in ensuring clarity, consistency, and accuracy of graphic and written information.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with architects, engineers, signage specialists, and other project stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet established schedules and project deadlines.
