Lead Software Engineer - Data Engineer

In this role, you will:

• Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
• Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
• Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
• Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
• Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
• Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
• Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

• B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. in Computer Science, Information Technology, ECE, or related discipline with a strong academic record.
• Experience with ETL tools such as Ab Initio, Informatica, DataStage, Talend, SSIS, or similar platforms.
• Strong experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-based data engineering solutions.
• Experience with Agile delivery methodologies and CI/CD practices.
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
• Experience leading design reviews and mentoring engineering teams.
• Preferred GCP Skills
  Hands-on experience with the following GCP services is highly desirable:
• BigQuery for enterprise data warehousing and analytics.
• Cloud Storage (GCS) for scalable storage solutions.
• Dataproc for Spark and Hadoop workloads.
• Dataflow for batch and streaming data processing.
• Cloud Composer (Airflow) for workflow orchestration and scheduling.
• Pub/Sub for event-driven and real-time data integration.
• BigLake and BigQuery External Tables for unified analytics.
• Cloud Functions and Cloud Run for serverless data processing.
• Vertex AI exposure for AI/ML-driven data use cases.
• Secret Manager and Cloud KMS for security and key management.
• IAM, VPC, Logging, Monitoring, and Cloud Operations Suite for governance and operational excellence.
• Experience building data lake and lakehouse solutions on GCP.

Job Expectations:

• Lead the design, development, implementation, and support of enterprise-scale data engineering and ETL/ELT solutions.
• Architect and build scalable, reliable, and high-performance data pipelines leveraging cloud-native technologies and modern data platforms.
• Drive technical direction and provide guidance to engineering teams on best practices for data integration, transformation, and orchestration.
• Design and develop data ingestion, transformation, and curation frameworks using Python, PySpark, SQL, and ETL tools.
• Lead cloud modernization initiatives and implement data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Design and optimize data models, data warehouses, and data marts to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
• Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance requirements are incorporated into all solutions.
• Drive performance tuning, query optimization, and scalability improvements across databases and data platforms.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers through technical reviews, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
• Support production environments, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures for operational excellence.
• Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to technology roadmaps and strategic planning initiatives.

• Demonstrate strong technical leadership and ownership of critical data engineering initiatives.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers across the team.
• Drive continuous improvements in code quality, automation, operational efficiency, and platform reliability.
• Work effectively with global teams and stakeholders.
• Ensure solutions adhere to security, compliance, and enterprise architecture standards.
• Act as a trusted technology partner for business and engineering organizations.
• Foster innovation through the adoption of cloud, automation, and modern data engineering practices.
• This role is ideal for a Lead Software Engineer with strong expertise in ETL, SQL, Database Management, Data Modeling, Python/PySpark, GCP Data Engineering Services, and Technical Leadership.
