Why You Will Love this Job
We're looking for a Generator Service Engineer to support critical power infrastructure within data centre environments. Working predominantly from fixed customer sites, you'll play a key role in maintaining standby power systems, ensuring equipment reliability and maximum uptime across mission-critical facilities.
The Role
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on standby power generation equipment within data centre environments.
Diagnosing faults and completing breakdown repairs to ensure maximum equipment reliability and uptime.
Working on fixed customer sites, supporting critical power infrastructure and emergency backup systems.
Building strong working relationships with site teams and customers, delivering a professional and responsive service.
Working closely with Coordinators and Service Managers to ensure maintenance schedules and reactive works are completed efficiently.
Accurately recording all work carried out using our bespoke management system.
Participating in the site or regional on-call rota (approximately 1 in 6).
Adhering to company Health & Safety, environmental and quality management systems at all times.
The Person
Time-served Mechanical/Electrical Engineer or qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent).
Previous experience working on generators, critical power systems or similar equipment is highly advantageous.
Good knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems, including engines and alternators.
Experience working within data centres, critical environments, facilities management or industrial settings would be beneficial.
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
Able to complete risk assessments and work safely in high-compliance environments.
Excellent communication skills, confident liaising with customers, site teams and internal stakeholders.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where reliability and attention to detail are critical.
What We Can Offer You
Competitive hourly rates, dependent on experience.
Overtime available after 40 hours, with a realistic OTE of £55,000 - £65,000.
10-15% uplift in base pay, depending on your postcode.
