Description
This role is located in Somerville, MA - We are a hybrid work environment and are in the office 3+ days/per week.
Tulip brings modern technology and AI into manufacturing. Manufacturing accounts for almost 20% of the global economy and one in every seven workers on Earth, yet remains among the least digitized. More than a decade ago, we created the category to close that gap: AI-native software that puts cutting-edge tools directly in the hands of the people on the manufacturing front lines. Because we are human-centered and tech-obsessed, we are building a future of work where human ingenuity is amplified with the latest technology.
In January 2026 we became one of Boston's few new AI unicorns, reaching a $1.3B valuation. We're growing double digits in revenue year over year. The world's best manufacturers run on Tulip - turning inventory 10x faster, releasing gene therapies in hours instead of weeks, and training master craftspeople to forge engagement rings 5x more rapidly. Headquartered in Somerville, MA with offices in Germany, Hungary, Singapore, Japan, and Israel, we've been consistently named a World Economic Forum Global Innovator, a Gartner leader, and one of Built In Boston's "Best Places to Work."
We run the way we build: AI-forward, humanistic, and high ownership. We're looking for builders who are energized by complex problems, rapid cycles, and the unique opportunity to see their impact on a global scale.
About the Role:
Tulip is scaling its Commercial organization, and this role sits inside a small sales team focused on a shared list of target accounts. Tulip's AI-native platform is used by companies like AstraZeneca, Cartier, and Stanley Black & Decker to digitize shop floor operations, replace paper-based quality processes, and build composable operations solutions. The people you will talk to are plant managers, quality and operations leaders, and engineers solving real problems in complex environments, and you will need to understand their world well enough to earn the conversation.
About You:
You have worked in industrial or process engineering and want to move into sales, or you have started your career in B2B sales and understand the manufacturing world. You are curious about how factories run, emotionally intelligent, coachable, and comfortable adapting as things change. You’re resilient, able to read a conversation, adjust your approach, and keep moving forward when you hear no. You want to build a career in sales and are ready to spend the next 18–24 months learning, growing, and succeeding as a Business Development Representative in a high growth environment.
What skills do I need?
- 1-2+ years of professional experience preferred, ideally in industrial or process engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality, or continuous improvement; exceptional candidates from other backgrounds with relevant business development or sales experience will also be considered
- Clear, confident communicator who can hold a substantive conversation with operations, engineering, and manufacturing leaders
- Ability to quickly learn complex manufacturing environments, understand operational challenges, and connect those problems to Tulip’s value proposition
- Able to understand and execute enterprise sales playbooks, conduct thorough account research, and prepare effectively for prospect conversations
- Comfortable using AI-enabled tools and workflows for account research, call preparation, and day-to-day productivity
Nice to have:
- Hands-on exposure to MES, ERP, quality systems, or shop floor operations, and/or experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement
- Prior experience selling into enterprise industrial or manufacturing accounts, experience with CRM (Salesforce) or sales engagement tools (Amplemarket, Outreach, ZoomInfo, etc.), and/or MEDDPICC proficiency
Key Responsibilities:
- Run targeted outbound for target accounts, using account research, buying signals, and AI-enabled tools to prioritize and personalize outreach
- Research and prepare for target accounts before outreach, developing a clear understanding of the account, its manufacturing environment, and relevant operational challenges
- Qualify and follow up with inbound leads, while proactively generating new conversations through outbound prospecting and cold calling
- Own account momentum within your assigned vertical, engaging multiple contacts and coordinating closely with the Account Executive
- Book and run introductory meetings with key operations, engineering, and manufacturing personas at target accounts
- Participate in pipeline and account reviews for target accounts, sharing prospect feedback, objection patterns, and account intelligence with Account Executives and the broader go-to-market team
Key Collaborators:
- Account Executives and Sales Leaders
- BDR Lead and BDR team
- Revenue Marketing and Product Marketing
