Job Summary:

As a School-Based Therapist, you will provide individual, family, and group therapy services to students experiencing emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. You'll conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, provide crisis intervention, and collaborate closely with school personnel and families to support student wellbeing. This position is ideal for clinicians who enjoy building strong therapeutic relationships, practicing evidence-based interventions, and helping young people develop the skills needed to thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy services that support students' emotional wellbeing, behavioral health, and academic success
  • Conduct intake screenings, comprehensive assessments, and diagnostic evaluations within established regulatory and organizational timeframes
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that reflect student strengths, needs, goals, and progress
  • Facilitate evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including trauma-informed care, behavioral interventions, and co-occurring treatment approaches
  • Collaborate with school personnel, caregivers, referral sources, and other treatment providers to coordinate services and support positive student outcomes
  • Participate in clinical staffing meetings, treatment reviews, and case consultations while providing insight and recommendations regarding student progress
  • Monitor treatment effectiveness and modify interventions as needed to support continued growth and success
  • Respond to crisis situations and coordinate emergency interventions when necessary
  • Document all services accurately and timely in accordance with agency, state, and accreditation standards
  • Assist students and families through transitions of care, including discharge planning and coordination of ongoing services
  • Provide education, guidance, and consultation on behavioral health concerns and evidence-based practices as appropriate
  • Represent the organization professionally within schools and throughout the community
  • Maintain positive and productive relationships with students, families, school staff, referral sources, and colleagues
  • Support the professional development of clinicians and interns as opportunities arise and qualifications permit


 

Education, Experience, and/or Credential Qualifications:

  • Currently licensed (or provisionally licensed) in Missouri as:
  • PLPC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, PLMFT, LMFT, PLP, or LP
    OR...
  • Masters degree in a license-eligible field of study (Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related) with plans to obtain licensure. Note: Any offers will be contingent upon successful passage of state exams and obtaining an LMSW, PLPC, LMFT, or PLP license.


 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Current driver's license, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance required
  • Commitment to student success, family engagement, and person-centered care
  • Ability to build effective relationships with students, families, school personnel, and community partners
  • Willingness to provide telehealth services and obtain additional state licensure as required
  • Experience providing counseling services to children, adolescents, and families preferred
  • Experience in school-based, community mental health, or youth-serving settings preferred
  • Knowledge of behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based practices
  • Strong communication, documentation, organizational, and time-management skills
 

Physical Requirements

  • Perform sedentary work involving computer use, documentation, and occasional standing or walking
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 pounds
  • Frequently perform repetitive hand and finger movements for typing and documentation
  • Travel throughout school, office, and community environments as needed
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
