Description
Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Position Summary
As an APTD MTS (Member of Technical Staff) based in Taiwan, you will lead and develop the IoT engineering team delivering Industrial IoT (IIoT) and machine vision solutions to support advanced packaging technology development and factory enablement. You will set technical direction and priorities, drive execution from proof-of-concept through deployment, and build scalable, secure solutions that improve quality, productivity, and early risk detection. You will partner cross-functionally to translate manufacturing needs into measurable signals, robust data pipelines, and actionable insights, while building a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the IoT engineering team; set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and build growth plans aligned to APTD needs.
- Own team execution: define goals/KPIs, prioritize the IoT roadmap, assign ownership, and ensure high-quality, on-time delivery from concept to factory deployment.
- Drive end-to-end IIoT solution development: sensing strategy, edge compute, connectivity, data ingestion/storage, monitoring, and sustainment (including data quality and traceability).
- Drive machine vision solutions: guide hardware selection (cameras/optics/lighting), image acquisition strategy, algorithm approach, performance validation, and deployment readiness.
- Partner with process, equipment, automation, quality, and IT/data platform stakeholders to translate manufacturing problems into measurable signals and integrated factory solutions.
- Ensure disciplined engineering practices: requirements, design reviews, coding standards, documentation, change control, cybersecurity considerations, and operational readiness.
- Own resourcing and capacity planning (headcount, skills mix, training); hire and onboard talent; build vendor/partner leverage where appropriate.
- Communicate status, risks, and decisions to leadership; manage escalations and ensure safe execution and timely closure of issues and corrective actions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or related discipline; or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering and deploying IoT/IIoT, sensing/automation, and/or machine vision solutions in an industrial environment.
- People leadership experience (direct or matrix), including coaching, prioritization, and stakeholder management.
- Proficiency in Python and experience guiding software development practices (code reviews, testing, CI/CD expectations, documentation).
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills and clear communication in a cross-cultural environment.
Preferred Skills
- Machine vision hardware/software experience (camera selection, lenses, lighting, calibration) and algorithm development (OpenCV or similar).
- IoT architecture experience (edge compute, device management, connectivity, data ingestion, storage, analytics) and device/data security principles.
- Experience translating manufacturing/tool constraints into measurable signals and sensing strategies (e.g., camera, vibration, ESD/charge, IMU) to detect abnormal conditions and risk.
- Data engineering fundamentals: building reliable pipelines, data quality checks, traceability, monitoring/alerting, and scalable data access patterns.
- Experience with embedded/edge prototyping and integration (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi) and troubleshooting networks/connectivity in factory environments.
- Strong program/project management skills: planning, dependency management, risk mitigation, cross-site alignment, and execution operating rhythms.
- Experience hiring, onboarding, and developing engineers; building a culture of engineering excellence and ownership.
Working Relationships
- Lead coordination with operations, maintenance, and equipment suppliers to ensure safe deployment and stable operation of IIoT/machine vision solutions with clear escalation paths.
- Partner with process and integration teams to define priorities, execute development plans, and drive technology readiness.
- Collaborate with metrology/inspection and quality leaders to set measurement strategy, control limits, and response plans.
- Coordinate with global stakeholders to align standards, share learnings, and scale best practices across sites.
AI in Job Responsibilities:
- Integrates AI-assisted tools and insights into daily work to improve efficiency, quality, or effectiveness, exercising sound judgment and complying with organizational standards and legal requirements.
- Contributes to a culture of continuous improvement by identifying, testing, and sharing AI-enabled enhancements within one’s scope of work.
AI in Job Requirements:
- Baseline digital fluency, with the ability to use AI-assisted tools to support research, analysis, content creation, problem-solving, or operational tasks relevant to the role.
