Job Summary
Responsible for leading the manufacturing of customized rebar products in accordance with work orders, rebar tags, customer specifications, and company quality standards. Oversees daily fabrication activities, operates and optimizes equipment, and coordinates material handling and preparation of finished products for shipment in an industrial environment.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Leads and performs fabrication of reinforcing steel (rebar) products based on work orders and rebar tag specifications, ensuring accuracy in bar size, bends, quantities, and dimensions.
Prepares, operates, and optimizes rebar fabrication equipment (shears, benders, automated machines), providing guidance and supports team members as needed.
Coordinates and oversees stacking, banding, staging, and organization of materials to maintain efficient production flow and meet scheduling priorities.
Conducts and oversees inspections of finished materials using visual checks and standard measurements to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
Identifies defects or production issues, performs advanced troubleshooting, and implements corrective actions to maintain productivity and quality.
Ensures proper preparation of completed products for shipment, including bracing, padding, and strapping to prevent damage during transport.
Promotes and enforces a clean, safe, and organized work environment; reinforces adherence to safety policies; supports training; and addresses hazards or safety concerns promptly.
Provides day-to-day direction, support, and informal training to team members to improve performance and consistency.
Performs work in both indoor and outdoor environments and ensures team readiness to adapt to varying weather and operational conditions.
Nature and Scope
Problems are typically difficult and/or high impact. Troubleshoots complex support or operational problems for junior level associates.
Under limited supervision, independently resolves issues and applies a variety of methods to develop customized solutions. May lead the daily operations of a department or team. Work typically involves infrequent review of output by a supervisor or direct customers of the process.
Assists with supervisory duties but does not have hiring/firing authority. Trains, delegates tasks, and reviews the work of junior level associates.
Work Environment
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Performs duties in an outdoor environment with regular exposure to temperature extremes, mechanical equipment, high noise levels, and airborne particulates, necessitating compliance with established safety standards and procedures.
Education and Experience
Technical certification or associate degree may be required in some areas. Generally, 7+ years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced experience in rebar fabrication, manufacturing, or a related production environment, with demonstrated ability to lead daily operations.
Strong ability to read and interpret complex work orders, rebar tags, and production specifications.
Proven experience operating, setting up, and troubleshooting fabrication machinery.
Forklift and/or overhead crane certification required, where applicable, with ability to safely guide others in material handling practices.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, including consistent and proper use of required PPE and reinforcement of safety standards among team members.
Prior experience providing guidance, training, or direction to others in a production environment preferred.
