The Position
The City of Maple Grove is seeking a passionate and energetic individual to serve as a cheer coach. In this role, you will help foster the individual interests and talents of participants as they develop their abilities and love for cheer. As the cheer coach you will assist in creating and managing a positive learning environment for the participants and assist in developing curriculum and teaching participates cheerleading skills in a progressive nature. This position will require the successful completion of a background (if 18 years or older).

- Develop and prepare weekly lesson plans for each cheerleading level, adapting instruction to meet the needs and abilities of participants.
- Teach proper cheerleading techniques, skills, and safety procedures, working with children both individually and in group settings.
- Maintain a safe and organized program environment by setting up and cleaning up activity areas and ensuring all equipment is safe and in good working order.
- Maintain accurate program records, including attendance, accident reports, and other required documentation, while staying current on new cheerleading trends, techniques, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with parents and staff, responding to questions about children’s abilities and following appropriate emergency and accident procedures.
- Promote an inclusive and respectful program culture by supporting participants and coworkers, and contributing to the City of Maple Grove’s mission and values.
- Cheerleading curriculum
- Cheerleading safety protocols
- Instruct youth cheerleading fundamentals
- Ability to move around easily
- At least 16 years of age or older
- Two years of cheerleading experience
Nice to have:
- Previous experience instructing cheerleading.
- USA Cheer coach membership
