Portfolio Intern

Huntsman is seeking a Portfolio Intern supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in San Jose, Costa Rica. This position will report to the Product Portfolio Manager.

Job Scope

The Portfolio Intern will support the Portfolio Optimization Project by assisting the Portfolio Team with verification checks, SAP system execution, portfolio reviews, project coordination activities, and cross-functional collaboration. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in portfolio management, project coordination, analytics, and stakeholder communication while contributing to strategic business initiatives.

In summary, as the Portfolio Intern, you will:

  • Support the Portfolio Team with verification checks and SAP system execution activities.

  • Verify New Product Introductions (NPI) and global plant extensions.
  • Complete DPAS and rated-order reviews.
  • Review SAP where-used information.
  • Verify contractual obligations related to portfolio activities.
  • Review ZFIN and ZRAW inventory data.
  • Review IBP forecasts and C4C opportunities.
  • Coordinate Marketing and R&D reviews.
  • Assist with project follow-up activities, documentation, and reporting.
  • Analyze portfolio information, identify trends, and support process improvements.
  • Create project updates, presentations, and communications for stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project records and ensure data quality and confidentiality.
  • Support additional portfolio-related activities as assigned.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.


The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.

All candidates are expected to work at our office in AFZ, Heredia on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please note that there may be occasions where additional office days are required, due specific business needs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Marketing, Finance, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited university throughout the internship period.
  • Demonstrated interest in project management and cross-functional business activities through academic coursework, projects, internships, or extracurricular involvement.

Skills and knowledge

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrates curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with project plans, task trackers, data visualization, or process mapping gained through coursework, student organizations, internships, or prior work experience.
  • Familiarity with portfolio management, product management, business analysis, or continuous improvement concepts.
  • Experience working with large datasets and summarizing findings for non-technical audiences.
  • Exposure to SAP or other enterprise business systems.

Working Environment

  • Office-based internship environment with regular use of computers and business software applications.
  • Collaborative work setting involving interaction with portfolio, marketing, R&D, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Internship duration from September 2026 through September 2027.
  • Expected work schedule of approximately 30 to 40 hours per week, depending on business needs and student availability.
