Sanctuary for Families is New York’s leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking and related forms of gender violence. Every year, Sanctuary empowers thousands of adults and children to move from fear and abuse to safety and stability, transforming lives through a comprehensive range of services. We provide a range of wrap-around services to help survivors rebuild their lives in the aftermath of abuse, and work to end gender violence through three key strategies: direct services, outreach and training, and systems-change advocacy. Our services are available in 12 locations throughout New York City.



POSITION OVERVIEW

The Case Manager will provide a wide range of case management services, including employment and economic empowerment services, promoting economic stability, resume writing, and housing permanence; also assists with program activities and workshops.  This position is temporary as funding is set to end April 30, 2027.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assesses immediate needs of clients and makes appropriate referrals to prepare to be rapidly rehoused and to support stabilization in permanent housing.
  • Provides aftercare, case management and advocacy services to clients in the rapid rehousing program.
  • Identify participant strengths and barriers to stability and assist participants to reducing barriers and linking to resources and services.
  • Provide pro-active follow-up home visits to ensure stability and further progress towards self-sufficiency; this includes support, advocacy, reducing isolation, listening, problem solving, and identification of resources to assist with reintegration of participants in the community.
  • Assists clients in obtaining any public benefits for which they are eligible (e.g. Medicaid, food stamps, housing and childcare subsidies).
  • Assists clients in obtaining self-sufficiency through appropriate referrals for counseling, financial counseling, ESOL classes, job readiness programs and higher education.
  • Refers clients to other appropriate legal and social services both within and outside of Sanctuary.
  • Prepares requests for educational and financial assistance grants on behalf of clients.
  • Advocates on behalf of clients.
  • Maintains accurate case records, documents all services provided within Sanctuary’s Service Tracking System and prepares statistics for monthly reports.
  • Performs administrative support. 
  • Perform any other department or agency related duties or special projects as directed.  


Requirements

  • Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of experience in the social services field, preferably in domestic violence.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish or an additional community language is strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritizing.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel



Budgeted Salary:  $29.73 - $32.84 per hour


Work position is Temporary Full-time; Hourly/Non-Exempt


Work schedule is currently Hybrid; must be able to meet job location schedule obligations
