The Vendor Clause Assessment Team (VCAT) Lead is responsible for leading a team of VCAT Reviewers within the Third Party Contracting (TPC) Centre of Excellence. The role provides subject matter expertise on contractual risk and supplier clause deviations, ensuring consistent application of approved playbooks, legal guidance and risk requirements. The VCAT Lead oversees team delivery, manages escalations, supports controls and audit readiness, delivers reporting and drives continuous process improvement to ensure efficient, compliant and well-governed contracting outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and coordinate a team of VCAT Reviewers, ensuring effective workload management, quality and timely delivery.
- Act as the primary SME for contractual risk, legal clause deviations and playbook interpretation.
- Review complex or escalated contractual provisions and determine appropriate resolution or escalation.
- Ensure consistent application of approved contractual standards, negotiation mandates and governance requirements.
- Support control execution, documentation, audit requests and remediation activities to maintain audit readiness.
- Monitor operational performance, clause deviation trends and key risk indicators, producing management reporting and insights.
- Drive continuous improvement of VCAT processes, procedures, playbooks and operating standards.
- Partner with Procurement, Legal, Risk Type Controllers and other stakeholders to support effective contract negotiations and risk management.
- Maintain accurate records, reporting and evidence using approved systems and tools.
- Support onboarding, training and knowledge sharing across the VCAT team.
Skills
- Experience in contract review, contracting, legal operations, supplier governance or risk management.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading or coordinating teams.
- Understanding of controls, governance, compliance and audit requirements.
- Strong reporting and data analysis capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
