As part of St John of God Health Care, the hospital is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and their families across the region.

About the position

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join our perioperative team in a permanent part-time capacity (30 hours per week).

Working closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and broader perioperative leadership team, you will provide clinical leadership and support the day-to-day operations of the preadmission and day stay departments. • Support staff allocation and rostering requirements to ensure appropriate skill mix and safe staffing levels across the preadmission and day stay units.

  • Promote and maintain high standards of clinical practice, infection prevention and control, medication safety, documentation and compliance with perioperative policies and procedures.

  • Contribute to the orientation, education, supervision and professional development of nursing staff and students, including supporting preceptorship and competency development.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative and supportive team environment that encourages effective communication, accountability and professional practice.

  • Monitor and contribute to quality improvement, risk management, clinical governance and patient safety initiatives within the perioperative services.

  • Assist with the implementation of departmental and hospital operational objectives, policies and procedures.

  • Support the Nurse Unit Manager with the ongoing review and improvement of perioperative processes, systems and patient outcomes.

  • Act as a senior clinical resource within the department and provide leadership in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager as required.

About You

You will hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, with demonstrated recent experience within a perioperative environment. Previous leadership or senior nursing experience, including experience in an ANUM or equivalent role, will be highly regarded.

You will bring strong clinical knowledge, sound judgement and excellent communication skills, with the ability to confidently support staff and work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary environment. You will demonstrate a commitment to patient-centred care, clinical excellence, staff development and continuous improvement.
