We are looking forward to Senior Magnetics Design Engineer in Eaton’s Electrical Business, based in Shanghai City, China. ## What you’ll do:

This individual will be responsible for the end‑to‑end design and development of mainly molded inductor products used in power conversion and advanced electronics applications. This role will define magnetic, electrical, mechanical, and material solutions from concept through qualification and volume production, ensuring performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost targets are met for global customers.

  • Design, develop, prototype, test, and validate magnetic components including molded magnetic inductors for computing, automotive, industrial, and energy applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate system and customer requirements into detailed electrical, magnetic, mechanical, and material specifications, including schematics and 3D CAD models
  • Interface with suppliers, SQE, and manufacturing teams to ensure design for manufacturability, reliability, and cost effectiveness
  • Support qualification, certification, and compliance activities ( AEC‑Q, or customer‑specific requirements), support customers' application, support failure analysis, and prepare required technical documentation.
  • Engineering change management and product life cycle management in accordance with company procedures.

## Qualifications:

  • B.S, or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, material science/engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in magnetic component or power passive design, with hands‑on experience in molded. inductors or similar magnetic products.
  • Strong understanding of magnetic circuit theory, including saturation, hysteresis, core and copper losses, temperature effects, and EMI considerations.
  • Experience with magnetic powder materials and molded magnetics processes: winding techniques, powder material .mixing, cold pressing, hot pressing, curing, surface finishing, and online testing.
  • Experience with industry standards such as AEC-Q200, and experience with reliaility qualification methodologies.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of prototyping and testing and knowledge of inductor application and failure modes
  • Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation, including schematic, design specifications, test procedures, bill of materials, and reports, and manage project timelines and deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with global, cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills for technical reviews and customer discussions.
