SALARY RANGE: $25.00 - $25.00 Per HourThis position is temporary, part time, 20 hours per week.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
The Capital Defender's Office is seeking a qualified candidate to assist staff with office processes to include but not limited to opening of new cases; processing of appointments and expert funding requests.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of: office management practices and procedures used to organize and maintain the office; court system practices, forms and procedures to respond to questions as they arise; NC General Statutes related to criminal defense; and general office computer software and hardware.
Skills in: computer technology; audio-visual equipment; digital files; and MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to: explain office procedures to judicial personnel and the public; analyze and interpret information and make necessary decisions with accuracy; prepare forms and legal documents; transcribe material in prescribed format with a high degree of accuracy using proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling to produce legal documents; work well with others; organize and complete work by specific guidelines; and work independently.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma and three (3) years of legal clerical experience; or completion of a two-year legal Secretarial Science or Business Administration Associate Degree and one (1) year of responsible legal secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
