What You Will Do

  • Composite design support across all phases of the design cycle, preliminary through detailed design, validation, manufacturing, and operational service. Resolve design problems of difficult-to-complex scope to ensure project completion as well as review completed layouts and drawings to ensure clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning
  • Design and implements common procedures and standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality. Also develop data and make layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals.
  • Lead cross-functional engineering projects by managing scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables to achieve program milestones on time and within budget. Prepare and present technical and program status updates to CIPT (Component Integrated Product Team) and Pratt & Whitney leadership, clearly communicating progress, risks, and required actions.
  • Lead engineering change execution, risk assessments, and mitigation planning to reduce cost, schedule, and technical exposure across the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in manufacturing process development at suppliers and ensure the manufacturability of component designs, documenting and presenting results to management and external customers
  • Travel: ~10% Travel is anticipated

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years’ relevant experience in Defense/Aerospace or related industries, OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and 3+ years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.


Qualifications We Prefer

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering
  • Active US Security Clearance
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)   
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teamcenter, SAP, Microsoft Project, or other project management software.
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing methods for composites
  • Hands-on composites manufacturing experience using hand layup/autoclave, compression molding, or RTM techniques
  • The ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, suppliers and management in varying disciplines
  • Strong engineering problem solving that will enable the transformation of the organization

Compression Systems Engineering (CSE)

Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products.

Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
