What You Will Do

We are seeking a summer intern candidate with a passion for aerospace to join our team within the Engine Design & System Integration (EDSI) Military Engines engineering, Air Systems Design & Integration (ASDI) discipline.

The ASDI discipline is responsible for the physical and functional requirements that define internal and external air system architectures including risk assessment and mitigation measures, system cooling and sealing flows, clearance control, and bearing load management. Success in this exciting discipline is a pre-requisite for a competitive engine system design and strongly dependent on seamlessly integrating with other system disciplines as well as close collaboration with module centers and part owners.

This position offers a candidate an excellent opportunity to apply multidisciplinary engineering skills in the integration of complex engine systems.  

As an Aero Thermal Fluid Intern at Pratt & Whitney, you will......

  • Perform internal air system flow and bearing load analysis
  • Support engine test and validation of air system predictions
  • Perform trade studies
  • Work with the module center ATS practitioners to incorporate their models in the engine system model

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship session
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Aerodynamics, Thermodynamics, Computational Fluids Dynamics
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

  •   Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
