Position Overview

We are seeking a Technical Sales Engineer responsible for the sales and technical proposal activities of Electromagnetic Stirrer (EMS) systems for the steel industry.

In this role, you will work closely with domestic steel manufacturers and steel plant engineering companies, providing technical consultation, commercial negotiations, and proposal-based sales activities related to EMS solutions for continuous casting applications.

You will collaborate with customers to understand their operational challenges and technical requirements, while working closely with ABB's local and global teams to develop business opportunities and deliver value-added solutions that improve productivity, product quality, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Activities

• Promote and sell EMS solutions to steel manufacturers and related plant engineering companies.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
• Identify and develop new customers and business opportunities within the steel industry.
• Collaborate with ABB local and global teams to support sales and business development activities.

Technical Proposal & Consulting

• Understand customer challenges and define technical requirements.
• Provide technical and commercial proposals for EMS systems and related solutions.
• Conduct technical presentations and discussions with customers.
• Prepare quotations, proposals, and technical specifications.
• Support customers during the early stages of project development and technical evaluation.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Experience in technical discussions, requirement definition, and commercial negotiations with customers in a B2B manufacturing, industrial machinery, heavy industry, or plant engineering environment.
• Basic electrical engineering knowledge, including the ability to read and understand:
  • General arrangement drawings
  • Single-line diagrams
  • Electrical schematics and circuit diagrams
• Japanese language proficiency equivalent to JLPT N1 or native level.
• Intermediate to business-level English communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical requirements with ABB factories and engineering teams overseas.
• Willingness to travel domestically on a regular basis.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Sales experience in the steel, metals, heavy industry, or plant engineering sectors.
• Knowledge of or experience with Electromagnetic Stirrer (EMS) systems.
• Knowledge of motors, drives, power conversion equipment, or industrial electrical systems.
• Experience in project-based sales.
• Experience working with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects.
• Business-level English proficiency.
