I. PURPOSE/FUNCTION OF PROGRAM
Boys & Girls Village offers an array of services for children and their families. The services range from highly structured residential services on campus to intensive intervention and care in the home and community. The function of the Facilities Department is to provide and maintain resources necessary for the Agency to run effectively and efficiently.
II. POSITION OVERVIEW
The Housekeeper/Utility Worker performs daily, weekly, and monthly housekeeping tasks for the residencies, the schools, and the administration building at all BGV sites. The Housekeeper/Utility Worker will also assist facilities and food service as needed. This role is considered and classified as “essential” to the operation of the agency.
III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum all floors/rugs
- Buff, strip, and wax floors
- Dust all areas, including vents, light fixtures, furniture, and window sills
- Wash windows & Curtains in all areas
- Soiled linens washed and folded
- Ensure closets are clean/orderly/locked
- Ensure that there are enough snacks and utensils
- Clean refrigerator and check dates on food
- Bathroom: clean, disinfect, and ensure toiletries are refilled
- Empty all trash (Dispose in dumpster)
- Ensures that only approved nontoxic chemicals are locked in the unit closets
- Assist with snow shoveling & removal
- Bio clean up and disposal
- Deliver food and supplies to other BGV locations
- Steam clean carpeting & furniture
- Assist with minor repairs/maintenance
- Inside/Outside Maintenance and groundskeeping
IV. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Carries out other job-related duties as assigned
- Maintain Relias and agency trainings
- Informs supervisor immediately of any concerns or safety risks noted on the units
V. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- High school diploma
- Experience with Housekeeping as well as various hand tools performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs, also maintaining outside grounds and walks.
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions both orally and in written communication.
- Ability to relate to clients, staff and public in a courteous manner
- Must have valid driver’s license at all times and good driving record.
- As essential staff, you must be able to work outside normal business hours or call in, if needed. This role is considered and classified as “essential” to the operations of the Agency
- Institutional housekeeping experience and maintenance

VIII. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 80 pounds
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, walk, sit, push and pull and move continuously during work hours
- Be on your feet for extended periods
IX. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
- Works with cleaning supplies/chemicals
- Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow and ice.
