Role Overview
The Revenue Cycle Consultant I will support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Uniform Business Office (UBO) Support Contract by assisting with operational and administrative activities that support standardized revenue cycle processes across more than 130 Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs). Working under the guidance of senior consultants and program leadership, this position will support initiatives related to billing, collections, accounts receivable, process improvement, documentation, reporting, and revenue cycle optimization.
The Consultant I will collaborate with DHA UBO leadership, Military Treatment Facility (MTF) personnel, and project team members to support day-to-day revenue cycle activities, assist with process documentation, perform data analysis, and contribute to operational improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day revenue cycle initiatives across billing, collections, accounts receivable, and follow-up activities.
- Assist with documenting current workflows, operational procedures, and process improvements.
- Analyze revenue cycle data and prepare reports to identify trends, opportunities, and operational issues.
- Support process improvement initiatives by gathering information, documenting recommendations, and tracking action items.
- Assist with maintaining project documentation, meeting minutes, status reports, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with DHA UBO leadership, MTF personnel, and project stakeholders to gather information and support project activities.
- Assist with data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities.
- Support development of presentations, dashboards, spreadsheets, and other project documentation.
- Participate in project meetings and provide timely follow-up on assigned action items.
- Ensure assigned work products are completed accurately and within established project timelines.
- Perform other revenue cycle and project support duties as assigned.
- 3-5 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, medical billing, patient accounting, healthcare administration, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of healthcare revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, accounts receivable, and reimbursement.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative team environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Finance, Public Health, or a related field.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Public Trust.
- Experience supporting healthcare revenue cycle operations within the Military Health System (MHS), Defense Health Agency (DHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), or another federal healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with the UBO cost recovery programs, including Third Party Collection (TPC), Medical Services Account (MSA), and Medical Affirmative Claims (MAC).
- Exposure to MHS GENESIS, Oracle Cerner Patient Accounting, or similar electronic health record or patient accounting systems.
- Experience with data analysis, reporting, or process improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, revenue cycle metrics, or revenue integrity principles.
- Experience supporting project teams in a consulting or healthcare environment.
