Description
Description
Are you the type of engineer who looks at a complex mechanical system and immediately starts working through it — researching the constraints, digging into the details, and not stopping until you’ve found the answer you can stand behind? Are you someone who thrives when the priorities are shifting and the systems are layered — HVAC, plumbing, process piping, specialty ventilation — and you have to hold all of it together without a single detail slipping? Do you have the kind of urgency that keeps multi-phase projects moving and the kind of precision that ensures every code requirement, every design spec, and every deliverable is handled completely and correctly? Are you the person on the team who is already thinking about the next constraint before the current one is fully closed?
If that’s how you’re wired, we want to meet you. Maxson Engineering is looking for a Senior Mechanical PM who brings technical depth, relentless attention to detail, and the drive to take complex government and private sector projects from initial scope all the way to completion — with nothing left to chance.
THE ROLE — WHAT YOU’LL DO AND WHY YOU’LL EXCEL
You will own mechanical projects end-to-end — leading design, managing teams, navigating regulatory requirements, and resolving technical constraints across HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty mechanical systems. Because you are wired to research before you conclude — working independently through the facts and variables until the answer is clear — you won’t speculate on root causes, you’ll find them. Because you operate with urgency and stay sharp when priorities stack up, you’ll keep complex, multi-discipline projects organized and moving. And because thoroughness is simply how you work, the design details, code conformance, and project documentation you own will be right — completely and every time.
You will:
- Own mechanical projects from scope development and design through construction administration and closeout
- Design and troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, industrial ventilation, and process piping systems
- Apply deep knowledge of specialty mechanical systems including cleanrooms and central plant design
- Navigate regulatory and code requirements with precision — nothing overlooked, nothing assumed
- Lead, mentor, and hold junior engineering staff accountable with clarity and consistency
- Keep multiple complex projects moving simultaneously without losing detail, quality, or momentum
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience with relevant system design. Typically possessing expertise in specific design areas (e.g., central plant, cleanrooms, etc.)
- Proficiency in design of typical building mechanical systems with an emphasis on HVAC systems but also including plumbing and fire protection systems
- Experience with design of specialty mechanical systems including industrial ventilation systems, process piping systems, and other specialty systems
- Understanding of regulatory and code requirements
- Experience in team leadership and managing and mentoring junior staff
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent experience
