Job Overview

The Acquisitions Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day acquisitions operations in the Content Acquisitions and Management Department within the Law Library. Under the supervision of the Head of Content Acquisitions and Management, the Acquisitions Coordinator plays a significant role in maintaining the integrity and currency of the law library’s sizable collection. This position is primarily responsible for placing and managing all firm orders, subscriptions, and standing orders for materials in all formats, troubleshooting receiving issues, claiming orders not received in a timely manner, and communicating with vendors. This position ensures that resources are ordered and received in a timely manner, reviews vendor invoices for accuracy and receipt of material, guarantees that financial data is directed to the appropriate departments, and serves as a source of acquisitions information to the Collection Development Committee. Additionally, the Acquisitions Coordinator works to maintain the integrity of acquisitions data within the library services platform, assists the Head of Content Acquisitions and Management with analyzing policies and procedures and performs special projects as needed.

Work Interactions

This position has no direct reports, but fields questions from others in the department and the Law Library about issues related to the acquisition and receipt materials in all formats. As a member of the Collection Development Committee, this position provides practical acquisitions knowledge crucial to the group’s decision-making process.


Requirements and Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • 3-5 years of library experience.
  • Knowledge of standard library practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a complex and changing environment.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet, database, and cloud-based document storage applications.
  • Strong oral, verbal, and written communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Understanding of library acquisitions functions and library services platforms.
  • Knowledge of law and/or legal materials or legal publishers
  • Experience with a library services platform, such as Ex Libris Alma.
  • Flexibility to take on new responsibilities and projects as needed.

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$19.20 - $28.70

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
