PRIMARY DETAIL

  • Appointment Type: Permanent full-time / part-time hours

  • Salary: Base salary From $82,666 - $110115 (RN year level 2-8 - pay grade based on RN level experience) and access to the full salary packaging benefit with Maxxia to maximise your take-home pay. salary based on relevant nursing experience year level.

  • Location: Macquarie University Hospital (Wallumattagal Campus), North Ryde

The Role

Macquarie University Health is recruiting for a Registered Nurse with recent perioperative theatre experience to work within our theatres, focusing on General Surgical & Gynaecology & Plastics practices.

In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering high-quality patient care throughout the surgical journey – from pre-operative preparation and intraoperative assistance to post-operative recovery. Working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and the broader multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for maintaining a sterile environment, managing surgical instruments, and ensuring patient safety and comfort at every stage.

About You

Reporting to Nursing Unit Manager (Theatres), the successful applicant will have sound clinical nursing skills, a strong patient focus, and enthusiasm for working in a team. As a member of our multidisciplinary perioperative team, you will be expected to maintain a positive attitude, embrace innovation, and adapt to new practices. Excellent communication skills and a genuine dedication to providing outstanding care in the perioperative setting are essential.

To Apply

To be considered for this position, you will demonstrate the below requirements in your CV and a 1–2-page cover letter:

  • Recent perioperative theatre experience – with experience in key areas such as General Surgical & Gynaecology & Plastics highly desired

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills and a proven ability to prioritise and multitask in a fast-paced environment and critical incidents.

  • Flexible schedule.

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and exercise independent professional judgement and critical thinking

  • Well-developed computer skills including the use of electronic medical records systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and web-based research

Role-Specific Conditions

  • Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for NSW (Please provide your WWCC number in your application)

  • Registered Nurse/Enrolled Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • MQ Health Immunisation screening

  • This position requires a Criminal History Check

  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
