Position Overview:
The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for leading the design, administration, optimization, and integration of operational data platforms, including MongoDB, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Snowflake. This role combines database administration, engineering, performance tuning, API development, and systems integration to support business-critical applications and customer data platforms. The Senior Data Engineer leverages DBA expertise, hands-on C# development experience, and a deep understanding of MongoDB operational data stores, API-driven architectures, and cloud-based platforms to support business-critical applications and data environments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary technical lead for MongoDB environments and as a secondary technical resource for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL environments.
- Manage database configuration, capacity planning, performance tuning, indexing, replication, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
- Monitor database health and proactively identify operational risks.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of database-related production issues.
- Design and implement High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using C# and .NET.
- Build scalable data integration services that support operational applications and enterprise platforms.
- Collaborate with application teams to establish API contracts and integration standards.
- Optimize API performance, scalability, and security.
- Design operational data models and document schemas for MongoDB.
- Support customer identity resolution, contact management, and Customer360 initiatives.
- Implement data validation, reconciliation, and quality controls.
- Design efficient data access patterns and caching strategies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in database administration and development, including MongoDB and at least one relational database platform (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL), data modeling, schema design, database architecture, performance tuning across relational and NoSQL databases, and C#/.NET API development.
- 3+ years of experience managing backups, restores, and recovery models.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Experience with MongoDB Atlas, replication, sharding, and performance tuning.
- Experience troubleshooting production systems and performing root cause analysis.
- Experience implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Experience with C# or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Experience with database security management including roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing.
- Experience with version control tools such as Git/GitHub.
- Experience implementing automation for database operations, deployments, or monitoring.
- Experience in mortgage, lending, CRM, or financial services environments, preferred.
- Experience designing and supporting cloud-based data integration solutions using AWS services, including Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, AWS Glue, PySpark, and AWS Step Functions, preferred.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, Kafka or other streaming platforms, and Customer 360/Identity Resolution solutions, preferred.
- Knowledge of query optimization and indexing strategies.
- Familiarity with Snowflake architecture, warehousing concepts, and performance optimization.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL query writing across multiple database engines.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting MongoDB bottlenecks and advanced performance tuning.
- Understanding of MongoDB architecture, replication, sharding, and Atlas operations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Skilled in solving complex technical challenges through excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Skilled in working independently and managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
