ACSU Clinical Supervisor

AMHC is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time, exempt, Clinical Consultant to provide clinical leadership and consultation within our Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit. This position plays a vital role in ensuring individuals experiencing mental health, behavioral, or emotional crises receive high-quality, trauma-informed care while supporting staff through clinical guidance, training, and oversight.

Position Summary

The Clinical Consultant provides clinical oversight to the Crisis Unit, ensuring services are delivered in accordance with agency standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements. This role works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to support assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, staff development, and quality clinical care for children and adults in crisis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and risk evaluations. 
• Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, supportive counseling, and safety planning. 
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized treatment plans. 
• Provide clinical consultation and guidance on complex cases. 
• Train and mentor crisis staff on trauma-informed, person-centered, and developmentally appropriate interventions. 
• Support quality documentation and compliance with agency and regulatory standards. 
• Develop and improve clinical protocols and procedures for crisis services. 
• Collaborate with families, community providers, and other systems of care to promote continuity of services. 
• Participate in team meetings, care coordination, and quality improvement initiatives. 
• Promote ethical, evidence-based, and recovery-oriented clinical practice. 

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and adults experiencing behavioral health crises. 
• Strong assessment, crisis intervention, and clinical decision-making skills. 
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. 
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. 
• Commitment to providing compassionate, trauma-informed, and person-centered care. 

Work Environment

This position works within a residential crisis setting serving individuals experiencing emotional and behavioral dysregulation. The environment is dynamic and may require responding to client escalations while following established safety procedures.

Schedule

• Full-time, exempt position. 
• Flexibility is required to meet program needs, including evenings, weekends, overnight (awake) coverage, and holidays as needed.

Requirements

• This position requires a Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling or a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology.
• Licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Professional Counselor, Marriage and Family Counselor, or Clinical Psychologist in the State of Maine.
• An MHRT-CSP credential is required. Employees who do not currently hold the credential must complete the MHRT-CSP training within six months of hire.
• MANDT  (Day 1) and First Aid/CPR are required and will be provided by the agency. Employees are responsible for maintaining all required certifications throughout employment. 
• The ability to pass a background check and meet other licensing or regulatory requirements is required at time of hire and throughout employment.
