We are seeking an experienced Senior Fund Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of Fund of Funds (FoF) clients. This individual will handle day-to-day fund accounting, contribute to financial reporting deliverables, and act as a technical resource on private markets accounting matters within their portfolio.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience accounting for private equity, venture capital, private credit, or multi-manager investment structures and is comfortable interfacing with investment managers in a client-facing environment.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Perform day-to-day accounting operations for multiple Fund of Funds clients.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual NAV packages and financial statements.
• Process capital activity including capital calls, distributions, equalizations, and investor allocations.
• Record and reconcile investment activity including purchases, sales, income, expenses, and fair value reporting.
• Support accounting for underlying investments in private equity, venture capital, private credit, real estate, and hedge funds.
• Assist with partner capital allocations and waterfall calculations where applicable.
• Maintain accurate general ledger entries and supporting schedules.
• Support quarter-end and year-end close processes.
• Assist with annual audit requests and respond to auditor inquiries as needed.
• Prepare investor reporting packages and capital account statements for manager review.
• Communicate proactively with clients to resolve day-to-day questions and issues.
• Mentor Fund Accounting Associates on an informal, as-needed basis.
• Ensure own work products are accurate, complete, and meet internal quality standards.
• Flag process improvement or automation opportunities to management.
• Stay current on relevant accounting guidance and industry best practices.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4+ years of alternative investment fund accounting experience.
• Exposure to Fund of Funds accounting preferred.
• Solid understanding of:
  • Capital calls
  • Distributions
  • Investor allocations
  • Partnership accounting
  • NAV calculations
  • Financial statement preparation
• Experience with private equity, venture capital, private credit, or other alternative investment funds.
• Working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Strong organizational and client communication skills.
• Experience at a fund administrator or alternative asset manager preferred.
• Familiarity with Investran, Allvue, Geneva, or similar fund accounting systems a plus.
• Exposure to audited financial statement review a plus.
• Basic familiarity with ASC 820 fair value principles.
• Exposure to multi-currency or complex partnership structures a plus.

 

 

 

 

Salary Range

At Petra Funds Group, we are committed to transparency and equity in our hiring practices. The compensation range for this position is $82,000 - $123,000 per year. This range represents the base salary only. Actual pay will depend on factors such as qualifications, experience, and skills.
