The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing all operational and maintenance activities including corrective maintenance (CM), preventative maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) for various Computer/PLC controlled production equipment including but not limited to scales, dumpers, mixers, cookers, chillers, slicers, tray formers, case formers, conveyors, robots, palletizers, pallet wrappers and ancillary compressed air, water, steam, gas, electrical, pumping and control systems.
This position reports to the Engineering/Maintenance Manager and directs a staff of Maintenance Technicians working in a state-of-the-art; team based, and highly automated meat processing facility located in North Richland Hills TX. The keys to success in the position are to utilize technical and leadership skills, and advanced maintenance systems and techniques to direct the safe and efficient operation of all production and ancillary equipment while developing all direct reports. All activities in this area of accountability must comply with Hillshire Brands, OSHA, EPA and other state and local regulations
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan and implement effective procedures utilizing total productive maintenance (TPM) strategies for the production and ancillary equipment ensuring asset reliability where all equipment, machinery and systems are in an “up and running” state at all times
Works cooperatively with the Engineering Manager and operational customers to develop “best practices” for maintenance activities
Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan, schedule and document all maintenance activities
Work cooperatively with the Maintenance Planner to develop and execute maintenance plans
Schedule and direct the daily activities of production maintenance staff to ensure completion of assigned, planned and unplanned work
Work with Engineering/Maintenance Manager to continually improve systems, equipment and human resources
Understands the internal and external customers for this position and strives to always provide 100% satisfaction
Oversee the maintenance of all business-critical records, documents and blueprints for maintenance assets as well as all associated documentation relating to all production equipment and ancillary systems
Adheres to maintenance budget related to the assigned areas
Ensures all maintenance related projects and work are following standards set by USDA, OSHA, SQF, EPA, PSM, HAACP and any additional governing agencies by which we manage our business
Drive a maintenance culture that is focused on continuous improvement, positive morale and exceptional levels of customer service
Consistently demonstrate by example Hillshire Brands leadership behaviors focusing on how we accomplish, in addition to what results we accomplish
Annually work with the Engineering/Maintenance Manager and Human Resources to set stretch performance goals and developmental objectives for self and all direct reports
Provide formal and informal support and coaching to direct reports as needed to improve performance and/or generate opportunities for further growth and development
Never compromise on safety and hold direct reports accountable for all plant and individual goals
Maintain awareness of, and compliance with, all applicable Hillshire Brands policies
Performs other duties as assigned by management.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum High school diploma or equivalent
Exceptional leadership qualities
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
5 years’ experience in industrial maintenance. Prior leadership experience is a plus
Advanced knowledge of highly automated production equipment systems
Solid understanding of compressed air systems
Solid understanding of 3 phase industrial power systems
Solid understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems and motor control systems
Ability to read and comprehend Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID)
Understanding NFPA 70E (Arc Flash) requirements
Solid understanding of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) pillars and implementation strategies
Computer literacy as well as CMMS experience
Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Ability to communicate with all levels of the facility and organization
Ability to be resourceful, demonstrate business acumen, creative thinking skills and be able to act as a decision maker
Preferred Skills, but NOT Required:
Bachelor’s degree preferably in technical discipline
Experience programming PLC, HMI and Servo Motor systems
Experience with implementation of a TPM culture change initiative
Experience with Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) equipment
Experience implementing and utilizing modern Preventative Maintenance (PdM) tools and techniques
Food processing experience including USDA governance
Experience working in an environment in complete compliance with NFPA 70E (Arc Flash) requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to repeatedly stack 40lb. boxes to proper pallet height.
Be able to bend, twist and stand for long periods of time.
