Full Pay Range: $20.25 - $32.50 hourly

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

In this role, you will support daily park operations by assisting visitors, managing souvenir inventory, processing financial and cashiering transactions, and providing information that helps guests safely enjoy all the park has to offer. At approximately 120,042 acres of parkland and 872 miles of trails, Maricopa County is home to one of the largest regional park systems in the nation. Currently, there are twelve parks in Maricopa County's regional park system. Each is unique and offers its visitors a wide variety of recreational opportunities.

The Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department oversees the Maricopa Trail, a 315-mile trail system that encircles the valley and links all regional parks together. We Require

  • Two years of experience performing clerical/administrative duties that include providing customer service
  • High School Diploma or GED

Other Requirements

Must currently possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

We Also Value

  • Cash handling experience using a computerized point-of-sale system
  • Three or more years of clerical duties, including customer service and public contact experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills

Job Contributions

  • Operate on the point of sale/reservation system and provide initial and ongoing training to volunteers and staff as needed

  • Prepare and process revenue, including counting cash and check intake for all revenue locations, and prepare reports and bank deposits daily for all park staff

  • Greet park visitors and interpret park features for customers, including, but not limited to, park use areas, rules and regulations, fees, and special uses of park lands

  • Respond to e-mails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries and concerns from the public, agencies, park personnel, or others regarding designated parks in a professional manner

  • Oversee ordering and inventory functions of the Nature Center, contact station, and souvenir fund

  • Prepare weekly/monthly park souvenir fund order; ensure order meets all department requirements

  • Provide general administrative support to park staff

  • Other job duties as assigned (e.g., light janitorial, litter collection, landscaping, exhibit display care, etc)

Working Conditions

  • The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities in the field, the employee may be exposed to noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, and other related conditions and situations
  • May be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, dusts, poor ventilation, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel
  • Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly, and requires walking or standing to a significant degree
