We are currently accepting applications for the 911 Public Safety Communications Supervisor within the Emergency Communications Bureau (ECC).
The 911 Public Safety Communications Supervisor oversees responses to incoming law enforcement, fire suppression, and Emergency Medical Services calls; supervises the dispatching of appropriate personnel to the place of emergency or need; assists in the formulation and implementation of the 911 Center goals, objectives, and policies.

SHIFT INFORMATION
The work week is four 10-hour shifts. Days of the week would vary, based on the shift picked, but will work set schedule (same days of week and shift hours) for four months. Shift pick is every four months and you will know your new shift 2 months ahead of time. This includes working holidays if the shift falls on a holiday. You need to be available every shift.

- Supervises personnel, assigns work, conducts quality reviews and evaluates performance, counsels employees regarding programs, policies, and procedures, resolves employee complaints, takes disciplinary action, interviews and hires employees, tracks time, and coordinates vacation schedules;
- Ensures that proper work procedures are followed and that compliance occurs with all relevant departmental, divisional, and section policies and procedures;
- Works and maintains eligibility to work all shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, whether assigned or on an as needed or on-call basis;
- Works and maintains eligibility to provide lead coverage on the dispatch floor as needed;
- Tracks training attendance for team members;
- Inspects and maintains in good order, or reports malfunctions to proper maintenance personnel, all equipment in the Communications Center;
- Becomes familiar with the duties of the 911 Public Safety Communications Manager in order to act in that capacity during any temporary absence;
- Logs and maintains a variety of records on incidents dispatched, radio and phone stats;
- Performs records management duties as needed in accordance with applicable policy, procedure, and/or regulation;
- Completes monthly spot reviews of team members.
- Performs the essential functions of the position of 911 Public Safety Communications Dispatcher;
- Performs related functions as required.

- Ability to read city and county road and water maps to quickly locate streets, addresses, etc.;
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
- Ability to enforce policies and practices of supervision and training.
- Incumbent must pass dispatch testing (minimum 35 wpm); appear before an oral board; and complete a polygraph, background check, and credit check, prior to reporting for duty;
- Incumbents must be able and willing to work shifts, weekends, and holidays, and to report to work on an as needed basis;
- Incumbents must be able and willing to work the floor as a 911 Public Safety Communications Dispatcher to fulfill minimum staffing requirements;
- Must obtain and maintain a valid Idaho driver's license;
- Must be able to complete the APCO Supervisor Certification Training Program, NENA Supervisor Course, and/or the 360 Dispatcher Training Ranch as directed by their supervisor;
- Must successfully familiarize with basic operations and functions of the dispatcher and lead dispatcher roles to include operation of communication equipment, policies and procedures, and geography of Ada County within the first year;
- Must adhere to the Code of Conduct, ACSO Policies, and Supervisor Letter of Expectations;
- This position has been designated safety sensitive and therefore the incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires a combination of sitting and standing at a desk for long periods of time, up to ten hours;
- Requires frequent repetitive movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers;
- Occasionally requires the employee to reach below, at, or above shoulder level and to lift up to 20 lbs.
- The communications equipment is stacked vertically. Therefore, the incumbent must have the ability to operate the equipment rapidly at all levels of the vertical stack.
